Re: Who is the officant?

  • We got married at DuPage Co. courthouse.  It was $60 total.  Fifty for the license and ten for the judge.  Check your counties fees.

You ARE limited tho as to when the ceremonies are performed.  In DuPage it's Friday mornings at 11:00 AM upwards to 1 PM and its first come/first married

Wow. In MA it is much cheaper.

I don't know if there would be anything in your state like that, but you might ask.

  • I'm in Kane county - our license cost $27, and the JOP service is going to cost $10.

But this is being done at the courthouse for the legal aspects only.  Our ceremony is actually in Mexico.

  • Have a friend or relative take the online courses, get ordained, and they can marry you. Not only does it save money, but it's nice to have a familiar face up there rather than a stranger.

  • Make sure that's legal in your state first-it's not everywhere.
  • There was a rabbi who I wanted to marry us and he said he charges $800.  Needless to say we are not using him.

THIS...I would do (if its the same state)...and then do the wedding when I wanted...so do the $60 thing first (Friday at 11-1) and no one has to know...and still have the (Saturday) wedding as if you aren't already married...

    OR THIS...even better...

Kane county - our license cost $27, and the JOP service is going to cost $10.

  • Come back OP.....come back.

Needles - everyone knew that we were getting married on Fri. (had the reception on Sunday evening).  Some were able to come but most weren't due to the time.
