So here is my first question....

How many of you are or will be taking stuff with you like a cake topper, toasting flutes, stuff like that? Should I take it or leave it home?

Re: So here is my first question....

  • Honestly, I'm making this as simple as possible on myself so I'm not taking that stuff with me. Instead I'm using it at the AHR here at home. On the other hand, I know lots of girls that are taking all their own stuff. I think it's a preference.
  • I'm not, but we're not doing much of a reception there, I know there are many other girls that do.  I would say it's completely up to you, just depends on what kind of reception you're wanting.
  • I'm mailing a box to my WC beforehand, and then will probably have a suitcase dedicated to things like OOT bags that I will bring with me on the plane. I know some girls in the past have used large rubbermaid containers that they checked as baggage too.
  • I'm not bringing anything glass with me though (like toasting flutes)...I just didn't want to deal with it. So my centerpieces don't have any glass bowls or anything and we have clear plastic toasting flutes.
  • I took 2 full suitcases of stuff, including my OOT bags, fans, cake topper, chair sashes, etc. But I didn't bother to buy toasting flutes or a cake cutting set. I just used those provided by the resort.
  • I'm taking stuff with me, but nothing like cake toppers or toasting flutes. I'm not very traditional, so we aren't even having a cake!I'm bringing our silk bouquets, OOT bag items, etc.No glass.
  • Same as the other girls, mailing stuff in advance and bringing two full suitcases-but nothing really too breakable, etc.  I am bringing things like my out of town bags, message in a bottles, palm fans, etc.  HTH!

  • I'm mailing stuff to my WC but I am keeping it to a bare minimum.  No toasting glass but I am sending a cake topper and table runner.  I will send the OOT bags and other things to my hotel in advance.

  • I'm really torn. I think I'm just going to take my cake topper. I wouldn't want my flutes to break. It is only FI and I so I don't have any OOT bags to take or rehearsal dinner stuff. Thanks
  • I'm going to hire a wedding coordinator, and one of the things I'm going to ask her to do is let me ship some stuff in advance to her, basically - OOT bag stuff, cake topper, any decorations I'm bringing from home. We, however, will be buying big stuff there - like vases for the centerpiece, some local stuff for the OOT bag, etc.
