Affordable dj

As the title says ladies! Really small wedding (25 guests) on a wednesday afternoon, a dj needed for only about 3 hours, more for background music and atmosphere as Im sure we wont be dancing about! However Ive had a couple of quotes between 5-600 which I think seems very excessive for what I want.Any recommendations?

haha the dj threads always turn out to be fun. someone will suggest tagas and then gorjush will tell you that she had problems with tagas. some people love him, some people hate him! but he one of the ones that is mentioned the most often on here.

ugh a 3rd response from me. i just reread your post, and a sound system and ipod might be best for you!

I think an ipod and speakers would be best for you. 25 people don't get THAT loud, so you don't need a fancy speaker set-up, and if you want it more for background noise, then there is no reason to pay someone to be there. GL!

I was going to use an ipod originally but spoke to my doc and she said she would definately recommend a dj. I was already in two minds about what to do,, mainly because I want the right music playing when we enter the room and dont want somebody else to be responsible. I want everyone to enjoy their day (including me) without thinking about music!

We are also having a small wedding, and want the "reception" to feel more like a dinner party than a dance party. What we are doing is having the same musicians who are playing our ceremony music, play through dinner as well. I think it gives a nice, romantic, classy ambiance. It provides background music, and lets people slow dance if they want to but the focus is off dancing. For a group that size I would recommend a duo or a strolling violinist. Just an idea!

Are you getting married at LMEC?  I think using the musicians from your ceremony as pp said is a good idea for the first little bit then maybe during the meal.  If you are at LMEC (i'm not sure if that is right or not) then they can pipe music through the building if you have a cd prepared.

Jay is more expensive than that.I agree with Jackie's answer. Most places have a PA system that you can utilize as long as it's set up before hand. Doesn't hurt to ask!

It's a Wed. afternoon, how many DJs are busy then? I think you should make up a price you're comfortable paying and then call DJs you think are great and say to them when your wedding is and what you want and how much you want to pay for it and then ask if they'll do it for that price or not.  I bet you'll get better results.  That's how I got my photographer.  If they have nothing else going on then, they might be willing to do it for less than they normally charge. Especially if you start out by telling them how much you can afford to pay.

Theresa makes a good point... I didn't realize you were getting married on a Wednesday! You have alot of room to negotiate with an off-day like that. Try Craig's List as well...

You should check out Pyramid DJ's I don't know what kind of quote they will give you but I know my planner got me an amazing job for having him 5 hours.  If it's less then what I'm paying considering you only want him for 3 hours, he should do great.  Ask for Vern.Good Luck!  If you find nothing I second the Ipod idea!

I would do what Gina is doing or I would call G Clef Productions. 407-375-2733. He is amazing! Plus, it will be the best price you find on here.
