Re: What's on your wish list?

  • Dear Santa:
For Christmas, I'd like to have...
    a house
a new job, that could pay for a new house, would even work....
    Some new clothes
Some extra cash to pay off some bills
...if there's anything else I can think of...I'll let you know.
    Thanks!

Oooh Krystle, I second a new house and that decent paying job! haha.

As for an achievable wish list goal, it would have to be none other than...

...a Nikon digital camera!  I LOVE photography and am a big Nikon freak.  I used to be so anti-digital but with a six year old running around, I've discovered the benefits of being able to preview a photograph before it's printed.  Plus I don't have my darkroom set up in this house so it doesn't make me miss my SLR as much.  Gosh, no darkroom in this house?  I'm beginning to go back to Krystle's wish!

  • Haha...I love photography as well..........Love Love Love it...so yes...I'm right there with you..a very GOOD digital would be an awesome gift..while I love my Pentax (it takes some of the most vivid beautiful photos you will ever take)..you just can't preview those prints beforehand..so occasionally its a waste of money for prints that don't exactly turn out the best.

Speaking of my love for photography...an old friend asked me would I photograph his wedding...as in be his photographer...and sadly I had to say no...because even though he might have the confidence in my work..I don't...I would absolutely HATE for none of the pictures to turn out very good...there are no do-overs in wedding photography!

    Alas...I still want my house...

  • You know, Krystle, I had the same situation happen to me years back when my FI neice asked me to photograph her wedding.  I too had to decline.  Although taking photographs is my main hobby and I adore it to no end (and usually come out with some great photos) I also lacked the confidence to capture all the essence and memories of such a precious day.  When I'm looking for a wedding photographer, I need someone who has clarity and captures some sort of mood which unfortunately I don't think many do and I have my doubts that I would be able to.  So from where I stand, I think you made the right decision in saying no.

PS: (I'm proving I'm a photography geek here, haha) What kind of camera is your Pentax?  I'm not sure I could ever buy a camera other than a Nikon anymore but I'm always curious to see what cameras work for other people.  I'm simply obsessed with my Nikon FM10, a manual SLR.

The only thing I really want for Christmas is a job.

I do freelance work and since the economy bottomed-out, I haven't worked in about 8 months.

So, my Christmas wish is to get the job I applied for.  That's all I want.

    Oh, and world peace!  :)

  • For Christmas I want a new job that pays more so that FI and I can afford a house. I also wish for a house for FI and I next year and also that he can get a raise after the first of the year. Other than that just some money to buy new clothes with.

  • Best of luck, Shaina!  I certainly know how awful it is not to be working.  I graduated back in 2005 with a BS in Elementary Education and let me tell you...NO ONE is hiring teachers.  I've substitute taught for multiple years now and still do that as well as teach at a preschool 2 days a week but it's not enough to be financially stable.   I hope the job market picks up for all of us in 2010!
