Wedding in Kauai - Help!

We are looking into having a simple wedding at the beach, followed by a dinner at a restaurant, followed by drinks, music etc at a rented house where we stay at. we will be approx. 40 people but I need ideas for a restaurant and a (beach) house that we can rent. Ideally we'd like to be in Hanalei but at this point I'm open to any other place in Kauai as well.... Ceremony, restaurant and house should be close... Any ideas or tips out there? Please help...

• Check out the Hawaii message board here - http://talk.theknot.com/boards/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=73 They'll be able to help you with ideas, tips, etc. One of the girls who posts on there just got back from a HM in Kauai and she reviewed a bunch of the restaurants on that site. You can search it, too, for old posts about Kauai beaches, weddings or restaurants. For the reception dinner, start searching on yelp.com, and tripadvisor.com for restaurants that are reviewed well in the area you're looking for. Also, I've linked below a list of Hawaii brides. This is a good starting point. Look for the ones who were married on Kauai, then look to see who they hired as a wedding coordinator, where they were married, and where their receptions were to see an idea of how Kauai brides have done this in the past. • Hi there! I believe this is the same board as the above person posted, but it's the new format link. http://hawaii.weddings.com/boards/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=73
• Just a little heads up. While I found searching info on the Knot's site about Hawaii weddings (not the boards, but their vendor/venue lists, etc.) a good start, what they have listed on their site is only a small subset of the many many great venues and vendors out there. This is largely because they list venues and vendors that advertise with them, which generally means the businesses are larger in size and more spendy that what we ended up wanting for our wedding.
• I've been to Kauai a couple of times and we were actually planning our wedding there as well (flights just got too pricy for amount of guests). I would definitely recommend the Beach House Restaurant http://www.the-beach-house.com/parties.html It's in the Poipu area of Kauai which I've found to have the best sunsets and lowest chance of rain on the island. We had thanksgiving dinner here a couple years ago and they had the outside set up for the occasion, it was beautiful with the beach and the ocean right there and amazing food. The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook is very helpful. This website is great for condo's and rentals http://www.wizardpub.com/kauai/kauaerials.html Hope this helps, you can e-mail me Lauren1009 at g mail dot com if you have questions.
• Thank you all for the great tips!!!! I think I need to spend more time here... at first I was a little confused where I can view my posts and replies :) but now I got it!!! :)) Thanks so much! Silke
