Travel Agent

I posted before that I am helping my brother and FSIL research for their wedding (mostly to help them, but also because I miss the knot).  Did you use travel agents when booking? If you used one that was web based, would you reccomend them?  Thanks!

Re: Travel Agent

  • We did but I hate her!  I'm sure other ladies will chime in with positive reviews.
  • Would you mind telling me who you hated, so I don't reccomend them to my brother?
  • Yes, but I can't here.  Email me JenniT101 at msn dot com.  No slander allowed on The Knot.
  • My used a travel agent, she's super sweet and a wonderful person to work with, she's my mom...LOL!! She's a travel agent so ofcourse we went with her :)
  • I am using destinationweddings.com and so far so great!

  • I thought about a TA at first - (destinationweddings.com), but then I found the hotel, got a rate that seemed great and booked it.  I talked to a TA afterwards about our honeymoon and she offered to see if she could get us a better deal for the wedding.  After a couple of days, she came back and told me that I got a better deal than she could find...  My sister and I travel a lot and we never use a TA, I guess I just never really thought too much about it with all of the websites out there...
  • I am using someone from Beach Bum Vacation.  She was extremely helpful in assisting us in picking the general location to have the wedding - we are doing it in the Mayan Rivieria after thinking Grand Cayman and DR.  I needed someone with more knowledge than I had on things and it helped.I was a little disappointed with her a few times in trying to select the actual resort - partly because I found a better quote on one of the resort's website than she did, etc.  However, we just did a site visit and the original place she suggested is perfect for what we want and she had managed to negotiate a much better rate for us (the first one was completely obscene), so now she is back on my good side.  We'll see how it goes from here. My understanding from other girls is that the TA can help you deal with family members questions, etc., but that you can also do it yourself, so you might not need the services.  I think it just depends on what you want to deal with - my family's no big deal, so I questioned using one, but after this last weekend, it was worth it, as I would never had thought to go to the resort we did.
