Hi Ladies!!I'm a regular on the AAW board here but wanted to say hi and introduce myself!  I'm getting married in South Dallas next June and I'm really excited about getting my planning underway, even though fi and I are currently living in Austin. =)I was looking for a photographer in the area and one of my sorority sisters, who also got married in Dallas, recommended her photographer Chris Wilson at C. Wilson Photography.  I went to his site and really liked what I saw, but I was wondering if any of you ladies had heard anything about him as well.  Also any other recommendations for photographers in the area would be great!  My ideal budget would be $1K max.  Thanks all!

    I know Chris IRL, and I have checked out his website several times. His work looks good to me, and I have no doubt that he is very professional. He is totally a good guy, and is super friendly.

    My cousin used C. Wilson and she didn't really LOVE her photos. I mean, she liked him a lot, and thought he was very professional and talented, but she doesn't rave over her photos and has often told me that she wishes she'd spent a little more. However, if your budget is set, look into Kandice Ray & Jacqueline Reitz, Six Fourteen Photography, Daisy Photography Studio, etc. for more budget friendly options.

    Thanks everyone!  This has all been really helpful.  I will definitely look into the others listed!untsing, thanks for that opinion.  That's what I'm looking for as well, honest opinions about his work.

    Oh, and while I would normally totally recommend Jenna Cole- she's pregnant right now, and probably will have JUST given birth when your wedding happens.

You're right--do you follow her blog too?I want to say the baby is due in early April, though, so maybe she would be ready by June?I cannot believe I know this much about a stranger's pregnancy.

    I have the same budget and am AA. I asked each photographer if they had done AA weddings before and if they could send samples of their work. Out of the five that I contacted, only 2 had previously worked with AA brides. Of the other 2, I personally liked Evan Godwin.     Almoyo, do you happen to know if he's from Carrollton? I went to high school with a Chris Wilson, we were in band and choir together. I can't tell from his website if it's him.

    I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to understand because either I'm niave or maybe I just don't know what all is different... What difference does it make if a photographer has shot an AA wedding or not?

    Yes AA is "African American".  MissesKB my email is super_sig@yahoo.com if you can send it to me.  Although it doesn't matter to me, I'm just trying to find the best person for my budget.  Hey, happiness comes in all colors =)

    nita, you've gotten some great suggestions from the board and I can't wait to hear which photog you pick & why (well outside of the price of course)....LOL! to answer the question about why would an AA knottie want to use a photog that has experience with photographing AA brides and wedding it's because some of pics of us turn out "orange" or "too dark" or we look "washed out" due to a photog not using the proper lighting to accent our various shades (some of us have orange, red or yellow tones)...a photog who has experience working with various people of color would know which flash or finish to use to get the best quality pic of everyone...it's just like selecting a make-up artist or hairstylist, you would prefer to use someone who understands which foundation or powder would work best with your skin tone or how to style your hair as the majority (but not all) cannot just wash our hair and blow dry it out without treating it with proper products to get the look/finish we want...I hope that explains it clearly for those that were interested.  ;)

    I really enjoyed working with Kristina Fanelli, Koi Images on our engagement photos and highly recommend her. We loved our shots and she is a blast and really loves what she does. She is very reasonable as well.

    Yep he's in Denton. Ladies thank you for all the referrals!  I love Six Fourteen so far.  I was sold on Daisy but that's outside of my budget unfortunately.  If you have more keep them coming!  =)
