Ok, so the favor saga continues! Now my FMIL is into the mix. I swear everyone around me just wants to see me lose it and be bridezilla. I now have NO favors. My FMIL is insisting that the cookies are NOT to be used as favors!!! Really?!?! Is it REALLY that big a deal!!! Well...apparently. FI and I just left her house, after discussing the option of allowing some people to take the cookies home, she is passively insisting that they in no way can be used as favors and just do not go with milk because they are Italian cookies!!! WTF?!?!?Is a candy bar really expensive/hard to pull off? I'm going to cry, I think.

    Don't stress, girl! Favors are not even necessary and most guests will not notice if they don't get one. I usually throw mine away, unless they are edible! And I wouldn't be upset if I didn't get a favor.I heard that candy bars can become very expensive, but if you don't limit yourself to certain colors or themes you should be able to do it for a reasonable cost!Good luck!

    I agree... I very rarely take my favors home, so I wouldn't feel bad about not having any if it's becoming that big of a stress. Honestly, I would tell them that if they had an issue with it, they should have brought it up earlier and then just do what you think works best.

    Make it a cookie bar...you can find pretty reasonable priced glass jars at like Ross, or HomeGoods, or Old Time Pottery and just fill with different types of cookies...that way you get your Italian Cookies too! Google "Cookie buffet wedding" and you will get a lot of images and ideas...

    Candy bars can be very costly and it's a lot of work finding all the jars and candy.  Frankly, I would NOT want to start a project like that so close to the wedding.  I really like Rani's cookie bar idea since it's along the same lines of what you were already doing.  I'm sorry you're having so much stress about something so silly right before your wedding!  And don't worry about not having favors...they are completely optional!

    First of all, I think cookies are a great idea. They need to let you do what you want bc it's your day. If you want to go with something else, I think you'd still have time to pull off a candy bar. It wouldn't be impossible.

    IT'S.NOT.HER.WEDDING. You like cookies? Serve cookies. If people want to take them home they will, regardless of whether your FMIL-zilla wants to call them favours or not. It's not like you put up a sign somewhere listing what your favours are. And SarahSmile is right, most people don't give a flying rat's patootie if you give them a favour to take home - some would rather you didn't! I hate that crap when I go to weddings. (FI and I are making a donation to a local charity or foundation instead.) Breathe in, breathe out. In the end it's one day and she'll get over it. What's she gonna do, make a big stink in the middle of your reception over this? (I hope she's not like that, now that I've said it...) So, of course, you put on the smiley face and say you completely understand and respect her point of view, and you and FI are going to come up with the best possible solution together. And then don't talk about it with her after that, and just do what makes you happy, girl!

    seriously, I'm planning on doing cookies as favors, my friend also did them at her wedding last year and everyone loved them.  like pp, it's your wedding, do what YOU want to do!!!

    For me personally, a candy bar was not expensive. I picked up vases wherever I could find them on sale and just bought candy to put in them. One container had oreos in it. =)  Now colored MnMs and stuff like that can get expensive. I spent a lot on colored MnMs but they went in my cocktail centerpieces as well. It just depends where you get everything..
