Married ladies - Name change

Can I make an appointment at the Social Security Administration office, or do I just show up?How long were you at the SS office? I'm wondering if could take a late lunch and run over or if it would take too long? I can take an afternoon off if need be.TIA!

Just show up.  If I were you I'd get there right when it opened.  Just tell your boss you'll be in late that day.  That way the line won't be too long.

Uh, I showed up there 20 minutes before the SS office opened, and there was already a line of 15 or so people waiting to get in the door. I don't think it's a lunch hour type trip.I know they do make appointments, but I don't know exactly what kinds of appointments they make. The ones I saw get called back for appts were families.

Just show up; I'm pretty sure they don't take appointments for name change. Once the SS office is done, the process becomes completely seamless.

I wouldn't do it during lunch, it will probably take longer than that.  I think I waited about an hour and 20 minutes, maybe a little longer, but that was at about 3:30 in the afternoon.  I got to the DMV 20 minutes before it opened and I was 12th in line and I was there about an hour and a half too.

That's kind of what I figured, but I thought I'd check with you all since you've all been there : )I guess I'll just have to take a day or an afternoon off and go to the SS office and the DMV.

I went to both SS and DL around 10:30 am and waited a total of 15 minutes at each place. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I went to the SSA in Grand Prairie on 360 and the DPS on Northwest Hwy in East Dallas.

I went to each one first thing in the morning and maybe waited a half hour. This was the SSN office in Mckinney and the DMV in Plano around Parker. I just went into work a little but late each dat. I think DMV opened at 7. Last time I tried the DMV at lunch- the one in Hurst it was like 2 1/2 hours.
