not sure about east haven but for new haven: if you are looking for take out italian a good one is Amatos on State street new haven. you can also dine in but its a little casual fancier is Consiglios on wooster street. it is set up like an open living room its very small but its a great cozy feel and its a little dressier. everything is so good there!

Antonio's in East Haven is very good. We have our holiday party there for work. Its a family owned and run business. http://antonios-672main.com/

seeing East Haven is like 99% italian you'd think they'd have a good italian restaurant ...I'm originally from there but I can't think of anything other than Franco's - food is delish! i've been there on many occasions and it's always been good - it's in the old Eblens plaza with Radio Shack in Foxon (RT 80)... everything else coming to mind is just pizza places LOL. I've heard Antonio's in the center of town is good but I've never been.   How about Portofino's in New Haven (State St.) - DH and I LOVE it there.. go there all the time && we had our rehearsal dinner there. Food is delish!
