Please...need ideas for seating chart/display

We are having a small wedding with around 50 guests. We are assigning each guest to a table but not to an assigned seat at that table. So they can sit at any seat at their table. Ladies I need ideas...should I just do a big seating chart or is there a better way I can show guests what table they are assigned to? My brain is on wedding overload and I can't come up with any cute yet creative ideas today...Please help!! Thanks.

    You could name your tables....like types of sea life, or islands, or whatever you want to do, and then on the place cards just write the name of the table they are assigned too. On another note, I know we talked about getting the parasol, but I have the flu and for the life of me can't figure out/find what we came up with, did you want my GM to come to your house and pick it up? I am so sorry I think the flu affects brainwaves.

    My table numbers are named after beaches so that may work. Thanks for the suggestion. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Tifani. My son is home sick today because he isn't feeling good either. : (

    I have some ideas in my bio under Reception on how I've been thinking about doing table assignments.So, what I've learned is that if you're not assigning ppl to seats, then you're not using place cards (b/c these are the cards that literally are located at the guest's assigned place at a table).  Instead, at one table (often the one with a guest book if you have one), you have escort cards - which can be anything from a shell to a card to a rock.  The escort card will have the name of the guest and their assigned table (either by number or by island or animal or whathaveyou).  Then on the tables, you have a picture of the thing, or the number - and I think putting the table number in a frame is probably how we'll do it.Or, you can get a chalkboard, or buy an old big framed picture at a discount store and paint over it w/ chalkboard paint.  Then write out the table assignments on the chalkboard.  Like this...[url]http://www.brides.com/planning/flowers/feature/slide/125235?#slide_125246[/url]

    I went to a wedding where they made a seating chart with an actual map of where the tables were and everyone's names and included that in their program.  It worked out really well as the wedding was in a restaurant so the table layout wasn't just in rows.

    You can still do the "escort cards".  You just put the guest name and table.  If there are no name cards at the tables themselves, the guests will know they can choose their own seat.  Just looking through the bios I've seen lots of fun ideas for the cards.If you want to do a big seating chart, it might be fun to separate the board into three sections.  (They don't have to be the same size, you can experiment.)Then for one section, you could have an actual map with each of your beach locations labeled.For one section, you could put the layout of your reception room and label each table so the guests know where to find their table.And for one section, you can place all the guest names alphabetically with the table name following each name.Have fun!

    Love the escort card idea. What would you suggest for just one long table? I'm having 25 people so we opted for a long "family style" table. Ideas?

    We had escort cards for each guest.  The escort cards were actually luggage tags.  The tables were named for different locations on Maui.  Each luggage tag had a picture of the location to indicate the table for each guest, as well as the guest name.  Another really cute idea is to name the tables after tropical fruits.

    Since you named your tables after beaches you can make placecards/escort cards and put them at the reception table laid out in alphabetical order on a box of sand or something so they can pick up their placecard/escort card and go to their designated tables
