Trader Joe's/Sam's Club Flowers Freshness?

I am working on details for our AHR on 11/7.  It's in my hometown about 1.5 hours south of St. Louis.  We are planning on heading down there on Thursday night and the party will be Saturday night.I would love to get flowers from Trader Joe's for our centerpieces.  TJ's flowers are so pretty and at a great price!  But there is not one located in or anywhere close to where the party is.I was thinking of buying them Thursday before we head out of the city but am worried about them looking fresh on Saturday evening.  Anyone have experience with Trader Joe flowers and their freshness?  I've never bought flowers from there - I just admire them while I'm getting groceries.I was also thinking of going to the Sam's Club about 30 minutes from the party location.  I've never bought flowers from there.  Does anyone know if they are pretty or 'wilty'?

Re: Trader Joe's/Sam's Club Flowers Freshness?

  • If you want to play it safe then Sam's would be your best bet since you could get them the same day. Their flowers are usually fine, their quality isn't fantastic in terms of how long they last, but since you only need them for a short amount of time they should be more than fine. Just make sure you keep them in water.HTH :)
  • Oh! As far as them looking 'wilty' I've honestly never seen bad quality flowers at any of my local Sam's Clubs. I mean, think of it this way - cut flowers only last so long before they look dead, and Sam's isn't going to have a bunch of bad looking flowers out there for people to see. There are enough people who buy flowers there to keep the stock constantly moving & fresh.
  • This doesn't really answer your question, but it might help your situation.  To help flowers stay longer, I cut the ends while they are in water then add it to the vase (flower food helps).  My FMIL showed me this and all my flowers last weeks longer.  GL
  • I dunno whose flowers are freshest, but I have heard from other brides that if you store them in the fridge they'll last way longer.
  • So, I just went through this with the flowers for my wedding. I was going to go through Sam's (my cousin had just done her FIL wedding with them and said they were fine - not great, but not bad - average flowers). I had also looked on other sites (which were expensive) and FTD. The day I was going to order from Sam's (which I am still convinced would have been fine), I got a 20% off coupon for FTD, so I went with their bulk flower (did not get any mixed or arrangements) order. The flowers were gorgeous, but again, this was bulk, cream roses and hydrangea.
  • Maybe check out fiftyflowers.com that is where i'm planning to order our flowers from for the wedding.  I've heard rave reviews.
