Where to register?

Would you please give me suggestions where to register? We started a list in Target but have been reading horror stories about theirs lately. Would appreciate your suggestions. THANKS!

Re: Where to register?

  • Bed Bath & Beyond is a favorite :-)
  • We did BB&B and Macy's. We were really happy with both. Look at your guest list and where they are located and think about the stores that are convenient. Try to pick something that is convenient for everyone, even if that means having 3 different places. Most of the weddings I've been to lately have been BB&B, a department store, and then maybe a specialty store like Crate & Barrel or Williams Sonoma.
  • We did BB&B, Crate & Barrel and Amazon. I now question if BB&B was a good decision. We have recently combined two adult households into one and found it hard to find "enough" to put on the list. We put "upgrade" items on our registry there, but all told we only have 30 or so items. Please see the long thread about BB&B being pushy. This might have deterred us from many of the products - I only added a few things online once we got home. We LOVED the Crate & Barrel registry party. They had a lot more daily use items that we liked and felt a lot less pressured. Their glassware and tableware are reasonably priced and fits our style. Amazon - we chose because they carry all of the odds and ends that we were looking for in the stores and couldn't find. We love the knife set we have and would love more of the pieces, but Amazon and specialty knife stores were the only places we could find them. Plus Amazon's selection of items for outdoor stuff was greater than Target or similar store. I would have chosen Target over BB&B because of their selection and I shop there all the time. It was their return policy that made me chose another location instead.

  • We just registered at BB&B (parties coming up and family wants to get us registry stuff for Christmas!) and they weren't pushy at all. She only followed us at the China, and only because she was able to take our china pattern, our chosen flatware, drinkware, and table cloth and set up a place setting to show us how it looked together.I really think it depends on which store you go to!
  • We're just registered at BB&B. All of our guests have one nearby, and could also purchase from our registry on their website which is really easy and quick. And of course that store has all kinds of stuff. • I'll be doing Kohl's, Pottery Barn, and a local china shop.  At least 2 of the 3 are available to everyone.
  • We did Target and BB&B. We lucked out at BB&B and the 2 consultants were already with other couples so we got to roam alone. If you sound like you hang there a lot, they might you let go free too. We had been to 3 weddings in the previous 6 months so it sounded like we pratically lived at the store. But they were really heplful and very nice. When we were leaving we told the guy that we were going to Target to register for electronics and camping gear and he gave us his card and told us to call him if we looked in other areas and needed any help! So nice! And what he said about Target was spot on "They basically hand you a scanner, pat you on the head and send you on your way".

  • We're doing C&B and Kohl's.  We're actually starting the Crate & Barrel registry next month because my family wants me to register so they have ideas for Christmas and stuff.  A lot of their stuff tends to stick around for awhile too, so it's cool because I'm not overly worried about stuff getting discontinued.
  • We did BB&B and Crate and Barrel.I know some people think bb&b is pushy, but i did not have that experience.  I was not sure about them walking us through the store, but the guy was so helpful!  He pointed out many things that i had not thought of, and am glad that he did.  But if you do not want to be escorted through the store just tell them that and they will respect your wishes, and let you on your way.  We did all the bath and bed stuff on our own.Crate and barrel was less helpful, but I love the stuff there.Love them BOTH!Good Luck!
  • We just registered at BB&B - had I to do it over again we also would have registered at Wal-mart.  They actually have some cute stuff now, plus 1/2 my relatives have never stepped foot in BB&B :/ We tried Target but registering there was a nightmare and we just deleted it.
  • We did Target, Pottery Barn and BB&B. The only place we had a problem was Pottery Barn. They charged DH's aunt's CC for an order, but then it was discontinued. They never told her. They just credited her card and she had to call and find out what was going on. No phone call. Nothin. Then 3 months later, the order showed up on our doorstep. It was odd.
  • We registered at Macy's, Williams-Sonoma, and Crate & Barrel. Macy's was overwhelming and after registering at the other two, the only things really on our Macy's registry is China, bedding (sheets, featherbed..) and towels. I did our entire WS registry online. Less stress seeing everything on the webpage and being able to compare things easier. We went to a C&B registry party and it was a lot of fun. Plus when you register in the store you get this cute handblown heart shaped bowl! I still think registering in the stores is stressful because it can be overwhelming. But it helps to actually see the items you are registering for instead of just adding them to your list sight unseen.
  • We registered at Crate + Barrel, Bed Bath and Beyond and honeyfund.com (becaue we're older and have a lot of stuff already).  People LOVE buying stuff at crate and barrel, pottery barn, etc.  I don't know why, but we've gotten most of our stuff from there - I guess people just like shopping there!  BBB is good b/c people can use their ubiquitous coupons, and they have SO much to choose from.
  • Have you heard of the site myregisrty.com ? It allows you to register for all the things you want from different stores all in one registry.
  • I'm glad someone posted this because FI and I are just starting the registry thing... a little late, I know.  We were thinking BB&B but there are some electronic things I want (like a camera because mine just broke :( ) so I was thinking Target maybe.  I'm worried about registering for a china or dinnerware set because I'm worried about not getting all the settings.  Should I even bother?
  • I just registered at myregistry.com too. It's good because you don't have to stick to just two or three stores and you only have to give your guests one website. They also let you import the registry you already started at Target (my fiance and I already had started a registry there too before we found out about MyRegistry). Have fun and good luck!
  • welshpixie322...It's up to you if you register for those items, but what you think of  china is not all thats out there.  there are some place settings as low as $29.  I was worried about this too.  But when we went into BB&B i was surprised what was available, and if you don't receive all of it, and register for it at BB&B you can return it and get anything else you want, so i say if you see something you want go for it, and if you don't get it no big deal.
  • We registered at BB&B and JCPenney
