the problem is, I bought a sample dress at the salon I went to, so they told me that they couldn't do my alterations for me (for whatever reason. basically to just get me out the door). So I found my own seamstress.I wanted to originally have her do the sweetheart and do the trumpeting at the bottom, but I was afraid to ask her after she said she couldn't do the sweetheart.I contacted the salon where I bought my dress this morning via email to see if they have any suggestions or can offer any help, so I am waiting to hear back from them. They have a couple other seamstress shops that they suggest, so I will have to get a list from them and start calling around if they can't help me in-house.Bah!! what a mess!Thanks for your help!

    aww... that sucks so bad. Check alteration/tailor shops too. They usually are able to alter dresses for an affordable price as well. Also, try EVERY salon... there are several that are willing to do alterations even if you didn't buy the dress from them (especially in this economy) - that's how they make most of their money anyway. When I was looking to alter my TTD, I called several different shops to price compare - some wouldn't touch it, others would with no problem. I would also explain your situation when you call, they might be more sympathetic and get it done for you quickly!Also, I've heard that it's hard to turn a lace dress into a sweetheart, but not impossible. If you want it done, there is someone out there that can do it for you. - if you have a scalloped edge, you might lose some of that detail though.

    my dress does have a scalloped edge....and I think I remember her mentioning something about losing detail. that must've been what she was talking about....We'll see how tomorrow goes. She's supposed to take in another 2 inches, so there's still a chance for her to redeem herself. I'm just hoping she actually did it this time b/c when I called yesterday she had me down for the wrong friday! (this was yesterday) Somehow I don't see her getting my alterations done in 2 days when she hasn't been able to get them done in 2 months!Argh! :o(
