How old is too old to

Re: How old is too old to

  • when you're too old to be polite to the people answering the door.
  • I'm fine with high schoolers coming as long as they're in costume.  I think it is ridiculous for parents to have their own bag, and I also hate when they have a baby in costume with a bag.  Please, that kid can't eat candy.

  • I stopped after 8th grade. I've seen high schoolers do it, though, but I think it's kinda old.

  • 13Once you are a teen you are too old.
  • Over 12 is pushing it :)
  • I trick-or-treated through 8th grade, I think. I had a younger sister that I escorted, so that probably had something to do with it. I think when you enter HS is when you should probably pursue other Halloween activities.
  • I went all through high school and I thought it was fine. I dressed up every year (usually my costume ended up partially covered with coat and sweats b/c inevitably it would snow every year) and I wasn't mean to the little kids. As long as high schoolers are like that, I say keep going.
  • I stopped after 8th grade also, but I have seen high schoolers trick or treating. I think if you can drive you shouldn't be trick or treating.

  • please don't bring me a baby with a treat bag. also, parents with a bag. L.A.M.E.
  • I'm gonna go with PPs. Once you hit high school, it's time for something else. Although if you come to my door, I won't deny you candy, but um... yeah...
  • 18, but that's being really generous.  I stopped when I went into high school.

  • My husband told me earlier that we should only give candy to the kids who perform "tricks", which can be anything apparently, because my husband said jumping jacks would suffice. I asked him what he would do when there was 6 kids standing there together, and he said, "They can all do the same thing!" Um, no. Nice idea, though.
  • A friend's church group had a Halloween party at her house one year. I must have been 15 or so... We were dressed up, and one of the activities was to do a scavenger hunt in the neighborhood. We went door-to-door asking to borrow items for our team. Some of the little old ladies were kinda scared of us since we were honestly too old to be knocking on doors. They probably thought we were there for the tricking part. I felt bad :( So I really think once you're a teenager you should be done with that...
  • I can't remember when I stopped exactly - I definitely went through eighth grade, but it gets kind of hazy after that. My general rule is that if you're going to trick-or-treat, you better have a costume, and if you're going to expect candy as a high school student it better be a really great costume.Of course, I have bought no Halloween candy other than the Three Musketeers bar I am saving for later, and I am not planning to open my door to anyone no matter how old they are. So, maybe this doesn't matter to me too much right now.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • I guess I should take my costume off and put the pillow case back on my pillow?..... ;)
  • It doesn't bother me when high schoolers go trick-or-treating, but it does bother me when they show up at my door with no costume and they say nothing. Geez, at least dress up. Earn your candy dangit!
  • I confess I trick or treated when I was a Freshman in HS. I was Alice, and my friends were the Queen of HEarts and the Mad Hatter. It was one of my favorite costumes. We went to about 5 houses, my friends neighbors, and then went to a party. ::hangs head in shame::
  • I'm fine with high schoolers, but if you're in college and trick or treating, I'm not giving you candy.
