Unique Ceremony Sites

I am not getting married for awhile but I am on the hunt for a unique place to have the ceremony. We are having our reception in Minneapolis but I don't mind if the ceremony is in St. Paul. I don't want a church or a chapel; I don't want it outside (this is Minnesota afterall)... I don't like country clubs, community centers or anything of the liking... I know I am being difficult and that may have to change if I can't find anything else BUT for right now I am sticking to being picky. Any knowledge about any museums or galleries or old buildings that are non-traditional would be great! Thanks for your help! Oh, and if it could only cost a few hundred bucks that would be perfect. :)

  • I don't know anything about Minneapolis, so I'm not sure how much my suggestion will help...but I'lll try anyways. I was the same way with our venue. I really wanted some historic building and the top options that came up were: the local armouries (usually beautiful older buildings with open space inside....just take some creativity to dress up), old town hall, music hall/theatre, and a couple wineries and breweries. I'm from the Toronto area so I also considered the Royal Conservatory of Music, so if Minneapolis has a major music school, that might be a good place to look too.

  • I'm the same way. I'm in Missouri, so this won't help, but if you have anything like this place in your area, I would definitely check it out. http://www.discoverycenter.org/This is where our wedding is going to take place. Most of the exhibits are going to be open at the reception, because we are having a lot of younger kids there.
  • Before deciding on a destination wedding, we had seriously considered having our ceremony & reception at the zoo here in Chicago. Surprisingly, they do weddings there all the time - complete with cocktail hour in one of the exhibits.
