Bank of America, it's OK nothing special. Time Warner for the others, mainly because FI works there and it is free but we have never had any problems and I have heard that Verizon customer service is really bad. Health insurance through work is United Healthcare and for our cars is USAA, life insurance through Primerica, hairdresser is anyone at Humphrey's in Las Colinas (Irving, TX)

Bank - Wells Fargo & Chase TV - DirectTV Internet - At&T Allstate for Insurance What part of Dallas? The hairdresser and dr. are tough to answer w/o knowing. We're kind of big....and awesome.

We use State Farm for insurance (both car and home) For TV and internet (and cell phone) we use AT&T.  We have Uverse. For hair, I'd say Avalon Salon in Snyder Plaza.  I use Brent (cut) and Tammy (for color). My primary care doctor is located in Richardson Methodist Center off of Campbell road.

Oh and banking we use Bank of America.

Banking we have a BoA and Wachovia accounts (which we acquired separately) that we barely use - just to deposit a few paper checks.  Our primary accounts are with ING Direct, which is great because it's all online and very portable. The other recommendations may depend more on where exactly you are.  We're out in the burbs, so if you're truly in Dallas, these may not be too helpful (sorry!).TV/Internet we have Time Warner.Hairdresser is Paula at Tangerine Salon & Spa in Coppell (husband goes to Blue at the same salon - yes, that's seriously his name - I can't help but hear Will Ferrell in my head whenever I think about it).Primary care doctor is Dr. Simon at Baylor Family Health in Flower Mound.  DH goes to a different doctor in the same practice, and both of us have been very pleased.

Banking - both FI and I both dislike Wells Fargo. Mainly because no matter how long you have been depositing checks from the same company there, they always put like a 3 day hold on your funds. Also they charge ridiculous fees. But I am also used to banking with a credit union(I only have a Wells Fargo to be able to transfer funds in and out of David's bank account...which that feature is pretty awesome.)Internet - AT&T Uverse. We had SOO many problems with Time Warner internet wise. Cable never had a problem with it. Don't have home phone so couldn't tell you on that. We had Comcast before Time Warner Cable and never had a problem. When TWC bought Comcast out, our internet would go down a lot for no reason. Or if it even smelled like rain, the internet would go out. Very frustrating lolInsurance - Blue Cross Blue Shield, but I think it's hard to get private insurance through them(I have it through my job..group insurance). United Healthcare is what my dad had(he owns his own business) and it was great when I was on his!Welcome to the Big D come Januray :)

I'm out in the burbs too, but some of this may be helpful. Bank - Bank of America and Texans Credit UnionTV - DirecTVInternet - AT&TPhone - N/AInsurance - State Farm for house and carsBoth my doctor and hairdresser are in Frisco, which I'm sure is way too far for you to drive if you are living in Dallas. Also, some neighborhoods really differ on some of the companies you can use for internet, TV, etc.  For instance, we wanted Fios at our house, but AT&T is the only company that is in our neighborhood.  Granted we had the choice of regular AT&T or U-verse.

Chase for banking because they have locations everywhere and I get rewards points on my debit card (as long as I choose credit at the checkout) like I would on a credit card. You have to pay $25 for the service, but I've had it less than a year, and have made wayyy more than that back--and my cashflow isn't that huge since I'm a college student

We are coming from Nashville, so Dallas is HUGE to us and is super overwhelming, so I really appreciate all of your advice :)We are having a hard time finding a place to live. What do ya'll think of Midlothian?  Steer clear of it, or is it a nice area?

I've heard good things about Midlothian...but if your job is close to downtown Dallas you may want to find something closer.

bcs00 - I'm from Dallas, but I'm currently living in Nashville! And compared to Dallas, Nashville is downright cozy! And I still can't get over all these trees, gorgeous!

What part of Dallas are you planning on working in? Traffic makes a big difference when you're looking for a place to live, especially if you'll be commuting during rush hour.

PCP - Dr Byrd in Trophy Club I can second this doctor as she is my doctor too! My mom runs the office there too! :) Small world!

I don't know much about Midlothian but sounds far to me! I live in Plano. Love it. I know a lot of us gave you advice before on locations- did you look in any of those areas? Is your FI working in Dallas proper? Where are you working? This will help on all the other questions you have too. I have spent a lot of business travel time in Nashville too so I understand where you are coming from. I think you just need to find the right area of the DFW metroplex to live first, and it will become more manageable then as you won't be looking at such a broad area of the city to find doctors, etc. tt For banking, I use ViewPoint Bank and have for a long time after a bad experience at Compass. I use Verizon for tv/internet/phone My hair dresser is Carole Lucio at Hair Color for the Wolrd in addison. I usually go to CareNow but Dr Johnson in Frisco is my primary doctor. He just isn't as convenient but I like him.
