Need help all knotties!! Having trouble finding a church!

Hi girls....I am struggling terribly to find the right church for my fiance and I to be married at.  We both want to have the ceremony in a church and we are both christian/ but nondenominational.  All the churches I have contacted have gave me such a hard time, and have been very discouraging b/c we are not active members =( of their church at the current time....Our reception is at the 1840s Ballroom downtown and we would like it to be in a close vicinity so guests wont have to travel a while from the church to the reception....  Can anyone PLEASE provide any suggestions!! thanks!

    I can't, I just wanted to ask if you went to Patapsco?? lol I know it doesn't help you at all, but an old friend of mine had a friend with your name (or what I am assuming is your name). Just curious!!

    I know next to nothing about Christian denominations, but one of my friends goes to the First Unitarian Church in Mt. Vernon (which is about 5 blocks from the 1840s Ballroom). She made it sound like they're very welcoming to everyone. Good luck!!http://www.firstunitarian.net/

    I had the exact same problem when I was looking for a church - I don't know if you would consider Catonsville too far away, but Catonsville United Methodist let us have our ceremony there without being members - they aren't the best with calling you back if you leave a message, so keep calling until you get someone on the phone.  Pastor Mark is fantastic.

    Have you checked out Old Otterbein UMC? It's located right by the Convention Center. It is a beautiful old church and completely open to non-member weddings. They have a web page with basic info. Good luck!

    I suggest you make another knot account that doesn't include your first and last name.  While most of the knotties that participate on this board are sane, you never know who may be lurking.  It's not good to have that much private information readily available over the interwebs.  There have been cases of brides having their vendors cancelled by lurkers.

    I second missnaptown's recommendation for The First Unitarian Church of Baltimore. My fiance and I just went to scope it out—I'm half Jewish and he was raised Christian, so we're all over the board—and they are very accepting of anyone and everyone.  The church itself was BEAUTIFUL, and they said they do all sorts of ceremonies (Christian, Jewish, Interfaith, Same sex). Definitely worth checking out.

    I agree, you should check out Old Otterbein UMC. I've heard good things about them performing ceremonies for non members and its only a ten minute drive from the ballroom.

    My friend was married at the Unitarian church pp mentioned and it was very nice. She is nondenominational aswell and had no problems. The only drawback was no air conditioning.
