F/U Pie!

so a while back someone posted a link about those mini pies in the mason jars..well i made some yesterday and they turned out EXACTLY like the picture!! (of course as i post this i have no picture proof at work)anyways i wanted to say that if you are considering doing them as favors, it took me about 35 minutes total to do 4.. so they are a bit of work but SUPER cute and well worth it.here's the link in case you are wondering wtf i'm talking about. :)http://tinyurl.com/y8eh75c

Re: F/U Pie!

• Those look freaking delicious.
• You are ambitious.  Kudos.

• So glad you posted this! I'd forgotten all about those, but I'm having people over for dinner Friday night, and these would be perfect. What kind did you make?
• I love those and definitely want to make them for a dinner party sometime, but since they have to stay frozen until you bake them, I'm not sure how someone would be able to do them as favors or gifts.

• I think they are absolutely adorable.  My only question is how the eff would I make them/store them ahead for favors for a whole wedding (100 people give or take)?  I can't fathom a way to do this without it being ridiculous. :(
• i had a jar of canned peaches in the fridge my mum had given me that i would never eat.. so i drained em, diced them in a bowl, threw in a bit of vanilla, some nutmeg, some sugar and some cornstarch and then put them in the jars.the pastry dough recipe they have on that site is super easy to do as well.. i'm used to pie dough being a bit difficult but this one was decent! helps that you don't have to roll it out :)
• i don't know if i would have done them as favors personally, i just remember someone mentioning it hence me mentioning it took 35 to make 4.so imagine trying to make 100. lol.they are great to make a small batch, stick em in your freezer and then if you have friends over for dinner you can pop them in the oven instead of buying dessert or trying to be creative!
• Oh my gosh, that's awesome! I'm definitely doing this for Christmas! Why couldn't you mass bake them the day before to use them as favors? Yes, they wouldn't exactly be warm, but I don't think they'd go bad. I leave apple pie on my counter if there are leftovers and it doesn't go bad. I think the same thing would apply to these.

• I think it would be a really cute favor and I'm kind of obsessed with it and that entire website.  I just have yet to figure out a realistic way to accomplish it.
• Kate i was obsessing over them too, thats why i tried them out!! i'm going to include them in my xmas hampers that i'm making this year :)
• Ooooh, good point Vogt, you could just bake them the day before giving them as gifts (or favors) and then maybe cover the tops in cute colored plastic wrap for presentation.  I think around Christmas they sell red and green Saran wrap.

• Definitely true, Vogt.  Hmm...now to find someone who wants to bake me 100 mini pies the day before my wedding...my mom does have a double oven, come to think of it.
• Kate, I wish I could help! I think this would be the cutest favor ever, honestly :) I know someone who did mini pies, but they just purchased them from the bakery so there was no real work involved.I'm definitely putting this in my Christmas goodie basket (I decided all my co-workers are just getting homemade goodies instead of gifts this year). You could even put some holiday fabric on top of it and screw the band back onto the jar to keep it fresh. If I got a little pie for Christmas, I don't even think it would last an hour before I devoured it :)

• Cute overload!  DH is going to tease me for thinking these are so adorable, but I'm definitely making these to share with friends and family at Thanksgiving!
• Those are awesome.  I need to have a dinner party so I have an excuse to make these.
• I must have them.  I will spend the next year and a half formulating a plan for the cute cut outs I could do in the crust, and labels with our names on them and a cutesy saying for the jar topper.  It will happen.
• Please please please use the phrase "Sweet as pie" - my grandma says that, it's so cute :)

• I know F/U means follow up, but when I see that, I always think "F*&^ You"... and that makes me sad. poor little pies- they don't need to be told off that point aside, those are amazingly cute. I want to make some
• hehe!  that is cute.
