transporting gifts

My aunt is hosting a bridal shower in Florida next month, but we live on the other side of the country. Obviously, we won't be able to fit all the gifts in a suitcase. So what's the best way to get all the gifts home? Mail them all in one bulk shipment from the post office? Is there a cheaper/better way?

Re: transporting gifts

  • We had our wedding gifts mailed to us. It's not going to be cheap, but we really didn't see any other way.

  • The post office is usually cheaper than UPS or FedEx for that sort of thing.  Some of the airlines do shipping, too.  You could call and price it.
  • i returned most of my gifts to williams-sonoma and bbb for store credit, and then "re-purchased" them when i got home.

  • Can you bring an extra suitcase or two, pack up some gifts and have your aunt and other close people bring them when they travel to you for the wedding?

  • Nope, the wedding is in Florida too. That's where I'm from and where all of my family lives. I really like the idea of returning the gifts to bbb and then buying them again out here. I think that's at least worth a try. If it doesn't work, then we'll just have to pay to have them all shipped out here. It'll be a good trial run for the wedding. (Although hopefully for the wedding most people will realize that we live far away and mail them. At the shower though, I think people want to see us open the gifts in person.)
