Need help finding outdoor site for AHR

We are having a destination wedding in the Caribbean and want to have an At Home Reception to celebrate wiht family and friends.  We want to keep if very laid back and casual, more of a picnic or BBQ outdoors somewhere.  I went today to look at picnic groves at Settler's Ridge Park in Robinson and realized that none have electricity, the bathrooms are gross, and some are hard to get too (either up steep hills or a long walk back a road) which wouldn't be easy for elderly or disabled family members.

We are looking for an outdoor site to have an all day picnic/party that is in the South HIlls/Washington County/Robinson/Moon/Bridgeville area (basically widening it out to Western PA).  As we are paying for most of the wedding ourselves (I have been married before and am a single mom, this is his first marriage but he is also in the process of moving back to Pittsburgh from CA).  So we are trying to keep it on the lighter side budgetwise.

Any suggestions/info would greatly help!!!

Thanks!

  • Have you looked at Hartwood Acres?  I looked there when I was looking at spots, and it's been a few months, but I do seem to recall them having electricity available.

  • South Park has some nice groves with electrcity, bathrooms eh....portos.  But really pretty grounds.  Some with games and jungle gyms.
  • In Moon, there is Robin Hill Park.  Was highly recommended by a co worker who had their wedding there.
  • Have you checked out the pavilions at Washington Park in Washington, PA? They're definitely casual but there are some nicer ones and they're not too expensive.
