WR (wedding related) Poll

What do you think are trends that are hot right now that will be "dated" in years to come?  What trends do you think will stick?

I think candy bars will fade. Photobooths will stick.

I think the "reveal" is going to become really big and stick.  It frees up a lot of time after the ceremony.  Also, I think people are becoming more and more non-traditional. I think the candy bar will fade out, but probably not in the near future.

Damask is out the window, along with Black & Red (maybe wishful thinking) weddings.I also think as more ppl are marrying later in life and co-habitation is more prevalant, honeymoon registries will gain momentum.

Great ones, already!! I agree that weddings will continue to become more and more non-traditional.  As a result I think colored shoes, crinolines, and even dresses are here to stay.  I actually think the candy bar idea will stick, but it will evolve to more commonly have other themes besides candy.

I think they may already be fading out a bit.. but pick up skirts..

Rene, I agree. I see those coming and going in cycles, really.  They'll probably be back in style in 15 years or so.

Pick ups and mermaid style dresses will go the way of puffy sleeves and but bows.  The reveal will stick. I think cupcakes will get more popular, then fade out.

I agree with the reveal sticking around. Not sure on the photobooth. I think the candy buffet will be around for awhile but not always as well.

Those Pnina dresses that have the see-through corset and cost about $10K, apparently they are or at least for people that can afford that!
  • edited December 2011
HA! That must have been why I had no clue. I paid less than $500 for mine.. and didn't even look at a single dress over about $700.

I think weddings will become more and more non-traditional. For example, the reveal, more people live together before marriage, and kids before marriage. I think cupcakes will fade away.

I agree that the reveal, and a lot of other photography trends like day after, TTD, boudoir, those type things are going to stick around.I also think untraditional registries like the honeymoon ones will become more and more popular.  Apparently now there's such a thing as a photography registry?Since fashion always seems to reinvent itself, I'm gonna say that pickup skirts and birdcage veils will probably have a limited life span, only to be resurrected 15 years from now.  Probably the same thing for halo engagement rings.I don't think cupcakes are going away.  I think we're going to see a lot more untraditional cakes, like a pie buffet, or candy buffet in place of or in addition to cakes/cupcakes.In the end, your wedding photos will reflect the era you got married in, that's what's sorta cool about it.

I think favors will fade out.  More and more of us comment that they're worthless.  I gave my people some kisses in a bag.  That's it. I think the slinky, night-gown-ish dresses will probably fade after a while.  However, I really only see them on The Knot videos and in their "100 Best Sexy Dresses" that they have every week.

I agree that damask will fade out. Honeymoon Registries will become more common and I think reveals are definitely going to stick around for a while. I think the "bling" trend will also fade.

I agree alot of the PPs. I think candy buffets will fade.  I think white cake is already fading.   Dress styles are cylical, of course.  I think the "photojournalism" thing will stick as will the reveal.
