What Month To Marry

Going to look at some reception halls and wanted to know if you have  any suggestions on which months in the Milwaukee Metro area are more ideal to get married in?

I am open to anything from June to October. No preferences- most likely not July or August dates as I dont want it to be 100 degrees like it has been lately.

Just want to know your thoughts!!

Thanks!

We are getting married this October and started looking for a venue in Oct '10. A lot of things were already booked - we were told October is becoming a pretty popular month.

If you are open - I would find a venue you LOVE and choose a date based on what they have available! Sure makes things easier!

Agreed with PP.  Find the venue you love and then book based on their open dates.  June is usually a safe month when it comes to rain/heat.

That can depend. I would recommend June (not quite so hot) or End Sept/Early Oct (leaves are turning). BUT that being said, those are the most popular times to get married. Are you paying for your own wedding and need time to save? Are you partial to a specific season? Is there a venue you have your heart set on? Those could all dictate your choice.

Another way I've heard that people choose their date is based on the flowers that will be in season during that time of year. If you have a specific flower that you really want to use in your wedding, you will save a lot of money buying it when it's in season.

We went with April - we wanted spring.  It also helped us save a little since a lot of vendors consider April to be off season and offer some discounts.  We had a short engagement (not quite 8 months) and picking a less popular month made it easier to get the vendors and venue we wanted.

I would recommend staying open minded and find out when the venues that you like have in that time frame. FI and I found a venue that we both loved and that was in your budget. We picked our date by taking the dates the venue had open and when the Badgers had away games.

Definitely, definitely, definitely plan around Badgers, Packers and maybe even Brewers. We Wiscos love our sports.

We picked a day based off something special to us.  May 28 was when we closed on our house and moved in to our first real HOME together.

Do you have anything like that you can go off of?

We booked our reception 19 months out and at that time from April through October, there were 3 Saturdays left. We were open to a spring/summer/fall wedding but wanted the ceremony outdoors so when we found what we wanted, we were not picky about the date. We LOVED the venue and picked out the date from the few that were open. GL!
