Not Engaged Yet

Height Difference!!

Planning way WAY ahead here....

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to make the very obvious height difference b/t me and my boyfriend a little less obvious if/when we get married. I'm 5'11" he's 5'7" and its not a self esteem thing, I just want the pictures and such to be a little more aesthetically pleasing ;)   I'm sure everyone in my bridal party (aside from my sister) will be at least 4 inches shorter as well. I just want something other than my usual tactic of leaning all my weight on one leg to be shorter!

For Example:

Don't worry.  Moonlight has taken a turn towards the BSC.  Apparently, I am having a monkey baby.

Yea, it seemed we were having a BSC lull last earlier this week, even last week - and now, I'm full of entertainment!

Um...I'd say if there's problem with you being worried about this, it's not that its too early to "plan" for this as your *subject suggests...it's that you're worried about it at all! My BFis slightly shorter, & while I love heels, I'm in the habit of opting for flats more often than not when I'm around him. If you're way tall, no need to exacerbate it with unnecessary heels, but planning how to appear shorter...???

Embrace who you are, embrace who you are together. That's what the wedding (if there is one) will be about, more than some arbitrary aesthetic.

You're having twins? Mini Mutley and a monkey baby?! How did this happen?!

And I envy your mac.  Mine is about 6 years old and she's tired....

mutley - got ya.  I figured you were much more literate than me - I tried once when I found a bunch on a website, but.. it did not work as planned.  O well.  Thank you for the entertaining expressions!

I do have an appt later today.  I will have my OB check for monkey traits.  If only I had opted for an amnio, then I would have known about my monkey baby sooner.

20 weeks until I pop out this cute munchkin!

You can take a lot of cute and romantic photos sitting on his lap or just having the both of you sitting down somewhere - like on a park bench or a picnic table. I

I'm sure your phantom photographer for your seemingly not yet planned or announced wedding will help you and your 'future fiance' figure this out during your engagement period - when/if you get there.

Clearly, your boyfriend will have to wear stilts from now until the wedding.

Who cares if you look taller than him in your wedding pictures? You're already taller than him in real life--if you two don't care about it now, you shouldn't care about it then.

I don't understand why you'd want your wedding pictures to misrepresent how you look in real life.
  • edited December 2011
Why would you want your pictures to look so obviously different from the reality?  Some day, your kids will look at your wedding photos and wonder why dad suddenly shrunk 4 inches. Worry about this when you get engaged.

I actually think it is a terrible idea for you to get married.  Don't worry about the pictures, because you know it's illegal in seventeen states for a woman to marry a shorter man, right? Wouldn't want them youngin's growin up all confused thinkin' that was normal.

    I mean come on.

I think you should leave him and get with someone who fits your pre-designed criteria for your non-existent engagement and wedding pictures... That's what I would do... Maybe your WP can help find a suitable groom...  Where does he get off being all short in the first place... Sound crazy? So does your post...

I'm glad I read through the responses because I was going to say something similar to Narwhal.

Seriously though? WHO CARES????? Is he shorter than you on a day to day basis? Then he'll be shorter than you at your wedding. Does it bother you on a normal day? Then it shouldn't bother you at your wedding...unless, of course, it does bother you on a normal day, then you need to figure out the issue.

I really don't think height should matter at all in any relationship.  Dan is almost a full foot taller than me (he's about 6'5" and I'm 5"6") and I could care less.  He actually will come up behind me and rest his chin on my head...apparently I'm the right height for that....so yeah...it doesn't matter.

Word to the wise: Don't google "man heels".  There are some normal images... and then some more disturbing ones.  Like a naked guy wearing thigh-high stripper heels. Can somebody pass me some brain bleach?
