I know what I'm doing in April

http://www.thelocal.se/31162/20101230/

He's coming to our city!! EEE!!  Incredible.  Who wants to come for a visit?

Re: I know what I'm doing in April

  • That's awesome.

It has always struck me that the Dalai Lama looks like an old Jewish guy named Sol.  Did anyone see when he was on the Today Show earlier this year?  Ann Curry was speaking to him like he was a 7 year old boy who was somewhat slow and also hard of hearing.  It was painful to watch.  At one point he gave her a look like "Listen, you budget Katie Couric.  I'm the Dalai Fucking Lama.  Take it down a notch."
  • The comments make me sad.
  • I try to never read the comments on thelocal.  They're always ridiculous.  It's like a troll factory there.

I didn't see him on the Today Show, but that had to have been ridiculous.  Like hey... he's only been studying and reading many different languages is whole life.

I feel like CNN is terrible, too.  It's a total train wreck.  I know I shouldn't look, but I still do.

The worst ones are when they do stories about someone dying in a freak accident. Most recent comes to mind is today's headline where a 70-year-old grandmother was killed when a tree struck down on her during storytime with her granddaugher.

  • He is coming around my area in May, and I really want to go! He is so delightful.

  • I saw him when I was in high school! It was very interesting, but I do remember being put off by the fact the high ticket prices. I won a ticket through a local newspaper, but for others, it was the equivalent of $80 for a ticket (venue held 1000+ people)

<div>Yes, yes he is.  I think H and I are going. It's on his birthday, actually.</div>
  • Steph-- Really? I'm jealous, I really want to go--- I wish they had a discount for alumni of the U, but if I can get enough funds scrounged up I would love to go.

  • Ha. There are far too many alumni to offer a discount. I don't think they've even decided where to host it yet, to be honest... they're trying to figure out what size venue to use.  Either way, prices will be ridiculously high.
