Well, it's kind of hard for it to be a big surprise (as in, completely out of the blue) when you're already engaged.

  • My BF would break up with me if I bought a wedding dress.

I'd fully support him in this decision because who wants to be dating a cray cray?
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • Congratulations on your engagement. Since you've set a date and are actively planning your wedding, it sounds like you are already engaged, so he's your fiance. Plenty of people have gotten engaged without the ring, so just try to relax, enjoy the planning process, and don't think too much about when the ring will show up!

[QUOTE]Well, when I got back from DC a few weeks ago, I was online looking @ the wedding dress that  I've had my eye on for  2 years. There were only like 3 left so I started to panic. Right @ that moment , Ben calls while I was upset & <strong>ordered the dress right away</strong> ( no, he didn't see it)

I can't help but focus in on the fact that you bought a dress online. There is so much that can go wrong. Are you sure you ordered the right size? What if it never comes in? Was the site reputable? Also, I'm with blue.

[QUOTE]Well, I've always dreamed of this big romantic out of the blue proposal. Well, My BF (Fiance) & I are living a part until Oct. He's away working atm. He's an american & I'm Canadian :)  We've been tog. for 5 years now & more inlove then ever. More things bought for our wedding etc. Now he tell's me, he's been looking for an engagement ring for quite sometime & wanted to have the perfect "unique" ring for me & already had it & was planning on asking me as soon as he saw me. which will be in a couple of weeks,  I'm super happy that every thing is on its way & were planning, but yet so disappointed  & sad that I know everything

</div><div>So wait... Did you order the dress or did he order the dress? I'm confused. </div><div>
</div><div>And asking you what? You call him your FI, you're planning a wedding, you've bought a dress. Engagements don't always start with a question, it starts with a decision. A decision to spend the rest of your life with someone and make plans accordingly. I'm just curious as to what you're expecting him to ask you. </div><div>
</div><div>Sounds like someone's logic is flawed here. </div><div>

100% what Elle said. He could still suprise you with the ring, but you two are already engaged. Congrats!

  • So you are planning your wedding together, have a date set, have purchased other things for the wedding - including a wedding dress, and you called him your FI. Seems to me like you're already engaged. I don't see why it should even come as a surprise to you that he has been looking at engagement rings. It sucks that you're not going to get your big, romantic, out of the blue proposal, but you did kind of set that ball into motion.

I'm a bit uneasy about the whole "ordering the dress online" thing. What do you mean they only had 3 left? Did you buy a sample gown? Had you ever tried the dress on? I mean, I think it's a bit much to buy a wedding dress before you're engaged, but since that doesn't change the fact that you did, I am just hung up on the whole "buying online" thing.

You're already engaged. I was engaged before I had my ring, and knew most of what it would look like. Was the presentation of my ring a surprise? NO! Was it romantic and beautiful how he chose to do it none the less, YES!

If you wanted a surprise you shouldn't have agreed to get married before he asked, or started planning/buying before he asked. You should have left that timing up to him instead of copilotting the ship.

You cant have both a planned engagement and surprise engagement. You chose whether you realise it or not to have a planned one together. A planned engagement is no less special than a surprise one. Please dont make it seem less of a commitment, and less of a special moment for those of us who happily went this route.
