Meteor Shower on our wedding night!

Hey all!
The Perseids Meteor Shower will be at its peak on our wedding night and I wanted to do something special to incorporate it that night like having some kind of wishing well thing or something. Our theme isnt stars or anything but just wanted to somehow incorporate it into an activity that night.
What do you guys think???
TIA!

  • Unless you're going to be outdoors where you could dim the lights and watch it, I don't know what you would do to incorporate it into your wedding.

Will you be away from city lights?  Too get a good visual, pretty much all lights need to be turned off outside.  Also, what if it is overcast that night?
  • We are getting married up in the mountains near Yosemite, outdoors, in August. I think we'll be able to see them teehee :)

  • Are you having a signature cocktail?  Maybe you could name it something having to do with the meteor shower, and then have little cards by the bar explaining the meteor shower that people could take (I wouldn't know about the meteor shower beforehand, so I would appreciate that kind of thing).  You could also just make the cards and leave them on the tables--I'm thinking about business card or post card size that you print or get from VistaPrint.
  • Have your first dance outside, amongst the meteors and stars. Very romantic!
  • Thanks for the ideas guys!

  • Depending on where your wedding is and if it is outdoors.. You could send off Wishing Lanterns in the sky..  I wanted to do this when we were first thinking about having a beach wedding.  You get a bunch of Wishing Lanters and everyone lights one "as a wish for you and your hubby" and they get sent off into the night.  It looks really amazing if it can be done!

  • I would love to do the wishing lantern, but we are getting married in the mountains with LOTS of trees....I dont think Smokey the Bear would appreciate me starting a forest fire! LOL We decided to make an announcement in the early part of the reception about writing a wish on the back of their escort card and then later in the reception, parading down with sparklers to the fire pit (its pretty close by) and tossing the wishes into the fire. Apparently its a tradition on New Years, my future in-laws did it last New Years. What do you guys think?
