Speaking of wine...(PIP)

FI & I found a new wine to add to our list of favorites.  It's Confectioner's Chocolate, (pic below).  It is an amazing dessert wine and it is a chocolate red wine.  PLus we found it at a liquor store for $10 a bottle!!  We may have to get some of this for the wedding.

So what is all y'all's favorite wine?

  • FI and I rarely drink wine, but when we do its usually a white wine, and usually from a local winery (Pelee Island winery isn't far from here)
  • We are usually white wine drinkers.  We almost never have red.  We were at a restaurant and the owner let us try this one and we fell in love.  The new fad around here is a chocolate wine called ChocoVino which is gross.  It looks and tastes like YooHoo.

  • We love wine...which is why we are going to Niagaras ice wine festival in January. Now that is awesome wine just way out of our price range! White cat and Red Cat by Hazlitt is really good. Both sweet! We have a local winery that makes everything. FI bought 13 bottles a few months ago. They have blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, peach, watermelon, sweet tea, etc! They all are awesome and made great favors for my first wedding. I had the names of my guests and table numbers right on the wine bottle label...so easy! About 3 yrs ago this week FI, his brother and wife and myself had a dinner party at my house. We ended up drinking two huge bottles of wine and then the guys went to get more. We ended up drinking 7-yep 7 bottles of wine. We were so drunk and sick, and we all had work the next day. It was terrible. I don't know what we were thinking. I can't even look at White Zinfendel ever again!

  • There is a restaurant/winery in Orland Park (I think) called Cooper's Hawk... my abdolute fav is their Red Romance wine... it's the only red I drink.

If it's not red romance, it has to be white wine and I like Moscato and Pinot Grigio, but I haven't found a brand that I need to stick to just yet.

  • We LOVE moscato.  I think that first time I had it was at Olive Garden.  We actually found a store that sells the brand that Olive Garden uses.  I have tried Barefoot wines too and like them, plus they are cheap.

  • I can't drink because of medications that I take but when I used to drink I hated red wine but didn't mind a sweeter white or flavored wine.  So not much of a connoisseur!

  • Sounds interesting! I'll have to try that, I'm a big wine drinker. I've been really into Malbecs lately and just got a Chianti at Trader Joes for $10 that was really good! I don't remember what it was called though. I'll have to go back there to get more.

  • We love wine. Pretty even between whites (I prefer an unoaked chardonnay) and reds (usuallyy Merlot)

Recently we tried and loved a new red called FowlPlay its an Italian blend. Also love Evil (Austrailan but no longer available) and Radius which is close to that one

@jtoly - super jealous about the ice wine festival. One year FI took me up to Toronto from Detriot (where he's from) and I found out there are tons of winerys. He promised an ice wine tour one year as I'm dying to try the stuff.

  • I'm a Pinot Grigio fanatic.  My favorite is Santa Margherita.  We have a winery that specializes in flavored wines, strawberry, blueberry, etc. and they are really good, too.  Good summer wines with fruits.  I'll have to try some of the wines recommended!
  • I don't discriminate.  if it's wine, I like it, haha!

I recently went to a Jeff Gordon wine tasting event and now I'm hooked to his wine especially the Ella Sofia (named after his daughter).  We are going to be having this at our wedding!   For two reason: 1. I love Jeff Gordon and 2.  it's really a great wine that my fiance and I both enjoyed.

The ice wine festival is great! It's 3 weekends in January and for $30 a ticket you get to go to 6 wineries. Each place pairs their sample with a type of food. The best one last year was at a place that set up a bar made of ice. They gave us two samples and a HUGE marshmallow to roast on a huge open fire pit! It was such a good time, I just wish we had transportation provided for us but I make FI drive!

Oh that looks right up my alley....January up there will be rough for me though. I'm not a fan of the cold. Seriously. Its going to be 80 here for Christmas this weekend. Guess I will have to buy a coat and brave the cold snow!
