Yep. I think it's the boat pic.
• I may be in this too late, but my pet peeve is the reactions to bride's who marry on the down low, and then continue to plan a princess wedding. No one I know has ever done this, and I have no opinion whatsoever, but I find it fascinating that so many people a.) have gone to a wedding like this, b.) have such deep rooted resentment for brides that lie about being married before the "big day." Why the hating?

My only other grievance is the use of the word DRAMA! As in, OMG I just broke a nail, and its a week before my wedding. Life is not a reality TV show. Not every aspect of your life is griping and newsworthy.

But this is certainly the right board for pointing that out.

I usually side eye those because I think doing the secret wedding first and then having a big wedding later is incredibly selfish, and I'd be pissed off to all hell if I was asked to participate in or if I was invited to one of these.

If they're doing it for insurance purposes or tax breaks - just.... ugh.

Eh, I laughed. Catholics liking their liquor is a long-standing joke, like the Irish liking their liquor. It's just a joke, but it has some basis and most people just chuckle knowingly. Have you ever been to Midnight Mass?
• FI and I were just talking about the secret wedding thing. His good friend pushed back his wedding and got married at the JOP because his FI got pregnant, and she didn't have insurance. That was in December, and they had a "wedding" in October of the next year. Earlier this month, his friend emailed him and said that the and his wife were celebrating their anniversary. FI felt bad because he'd forgotten to wish him happy anniversary. I was like, "well, isnt' their anniversary in Decmeber?" I always assumed that people knew they were already married at their October "wedding" (FI and their whole friend group knew), but why would they celebrate their anniversary in October when they got married 10 months before?! Weird.

I don't think I would be upset about the lie unless I had a close relationship to the bride or groom. I do think it's weird when people do this though.

I get the side-eye, but what I don't get are comments like; "you suck" or "nice biatch move". Personally, I don't think that lying about your marriage is the best start to a weded (wedded?//) life, but this is an issue that reallly riles people.

To be honest I have no experience with hair extensions. I have ridiculously thick long hair that's a pain in the ass.....and my hair stylist would kill me if I ever thought about putting them in. I've had the Japanese hair straighening and that was about $500.....and once I had it done I wanted to wear my hair curly. Go figure. I didn't find it worth it.

Hah, you're right, but I had to tone down my bitch factor. Second, I hope this is serious, because I totally would.

And the sig pic is from Catalog Living. There is a more fall-esque one that I like, but I figured this one goes with Halloween.
• I know that all you east coasters are gone, but I wanted to pop in. I have a grievance with Gismo for making me feel very confused. Half her posts are awful advice that make the Soul of Etiquette want to scream, and then the other half are cheery, thoughtful, sunshine-y posts that make me smile and feel kinship with her.

FRIEND OR FOE? ANSWER ME!
• Im meh about kristin wigg, some of her skits are hilarious (tears running down my face im laughing so hard), like the lawrence welk skits. Others, just grate, like the one where she plays a stage actress on some 60s game show. She has ups and towns, but they ALL do.

Funniest skits recently - summers eve (omg), whats up with that (everything about that skit just slays me), the one where the convicts scare the kids straight. I love snl.

• Michael and I like to call each other ridiculous names, other people don't get it, but we think it's funny. We were at the grocery a couple months ago making salads for dinner, and I dropped his salad all over the floor. He said "Way to go horseface" and some woman jumped his ass about emotional abuse. I like to call him wiener drizzle, how that could be misconstrued into not funny is beyond me.

Holla! :)

Also, I know I'm super late and we've all moved on by now, but dammit I wasn't here all day so I'm going to say this. Yes, the MC-knotting-at-work discussion has approached overkill, but what annoys the bejesus out of me is that people still aren't getting the crucial point, which is that it's not that she's just knotting at WORK (yes, we all do it, who are we to judge, blah blah), it's the nature of her job that makes it inappropriate. This point has been rehashed ad nauseum. How are people still not getting the distinction?

Example (oh yes, this is going to get longer): I am a therapist and I worked today, which is why I wasn't here to comment on this thread until tonight. Because I would never knot at work if I had clients in the room. And sometimes, they have to fill out forms in the middle of our sessions. Would it be cool for me to log on and knot at my desk while they're sitting in front of me doing a depression inventory? Um, fvck no. They are paying me to pay attention to them for 50 minutes. It's basically the core purpose of my job to interact with them in a face-to-face capacity, much like a teacher. How would you feel if your therapist tuned you out for 15 minutes so she could browse a wedding website?

I'm not demanding MC's head on a stick. I think she gets it, big time. I'm just saying that for people to downplay/rationalize/normalize her knotting at HER job is just downright silly and irresponsible.

/rant

p.s. I really did miss you guys today.
