Can anyone help? My boyfriend and I are planning to propose to each other on our anniversary. He doesn't really want a ring and I don't want to be the only one wearing one, so we are looking for alternatives.
After doing some research I found that many cultures give each other a prayer book on betrothal ... but neither of us is really religious. I also read about a Pennsylvania Dutch tradition of the couples giving one another a handmade item for their future home (but neither of us is really very handy!).
Did any of you guys exchange something other than a ring when you got engaged? Any ideas would be great!
