    It's the cross of St. George, England's national flag! It's the world cup and I'm a football-fanatic... we could go so far as to call me a hooligan at times...

    I thought England's flag was 4 intersecting lines. What does the X behind the cross symbolize? Can you luff me for my lack of flag knowledge?

    The Union Jack is the United Kingdom flag, and it's made up of the Cross of St. George (England), Cross of St. Patrick (Ireland), and the (insert something or other here, I know it's not cross) of St. Andrew for Scotland.

    For a lot of major sporting events (international) it's England only and thus, the Cross of St. George :)
