Looking for opinions!!!!!!!

Is it totally necessary to have a flower girl or a ring bearer?

Re: Looking for opinions!!!!!!!

  • Nope. Not necessary at all.

  • nope, i dont have  any little ones i am close to so i wont be having either
  • In lieu of a flower girl and ring bearer we are going to have a jr. bridesmaid and 2 jr. groomsmen. My fiance's brother and then two of my cousins. They are ages 7-12. Just an idea :)

  • not necessary at all....we're having a rb, he'll be just over 2 at the time,,,he will be the star of the show, I am sure, if we can get him to walk down the aisle that is!  lol

  • I'm a church organist.  I play far more weddings without tots than with.

The wedding police won't invalidate your wedding if you don't have little children in your WP.

I didn't have children in my WP.  My sister didn't have children in her WP.  My brother didn't have children in his WP.  My son and DIL didn't have children in their WP.  My DD and SIL didn't have children in their WP.  And we're all stlil happily married.  =)
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Nope, not at all!  We didn't have any kids in our wedding.

  • We're not having them.  We are having junior attendants.  We're having uneven sides.  AND I'm having a Man of Honor.  I'm just breaking ALL the rules!  My point is, you can do whatever.

  • I prefer weddings without child attendants.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • No, it is cute to have kids in the wedding but if its a late wedding you never know how they will act!especially 2 year olds
  • I don't think they are necessarily at all.  IMO they are mostly props and if they don't have the right personality or aren't at just the right age, the whole thing just becomes awkward.

  • It is "totally necessary" to have:

    • *  A partner (in all states)
    • *  An officiant (in most states)
    • *  A marriage license (in most states)
    • *  Witnesses (in many states)

Absolutly nothing else is totally necessary.  It is well to learn this early in the planning process, or you will go insane by the end of it.

For the record, we had a total of two attendants:  a maid of honor and a dude of honor.  The wedding was still legal.
  • Nope, I am not having any because almost all of the kids in both of our families can be holy terrors 90% of the time. They are not even allowed at the wedding.

And for that I am so happy.  It's been way too long.  There's still a ways to go in some states, but woot!  for your state.

  • nope. that's why i'm not having either. can't stand kids. & i don't want the few guests that have kids (people very close to me) to have to be running around after them instead of enjoying themselves.
