Dress too formal for beach?

I posted this on the attire board also but thought I may get some ideas here as well.  I am getting married in Santa Rosa Beach, FL on October 8, 2010.  I went dress shopping this weekend and wound up buying one.  Now I am having second thoughts (and all sales are final!) even though the dress fit me perfectly (no alterations were needed) and I felt awesome in it.  I guess my main concern is that it is too formal for a beach wedding...what do you think?  I am normally a jeans and tshirt kind of girl so I know that everyone will be floored by my dress choice.  I think this may be why I liked it so much...because it was so not-me.  I am having a very laid back wedding/reception.  From reading these forums, I gues I am not the only bride who second guesses after buying a dress.  The first pic is what the dress looks like steamed and the second pic is of me in it.  The bodice is pretty fancy and beaded.  It's a Christina Wu.  Thoughts?  Should my groom and groomsmen wear tuxes or would linen pants and a nice shirt work?

I think it's gorgeous.  I say wear what you want.  Yea, it's more formal, but the feathery bottom looks kind of beachy.

And I think linen pants and a nice shirt would be nice.  Or you could even do tan suits which would also look nice.

I just went to a beach wedding last weekend and her dress was very formal. I see nothing wrong with it.

I think the dress would look great on the beach.  I agree with Navy, the bottom gives it a little fun beachy feel.

I'm getting married on the beach as well (10/9/10) and the woman at the dress shop who helped me was amazing!  She said it doesnt matter Where you get married.. you where THE dress that you want.

If you love it.. then go for it.  I bet the more formal the dress.. the more beautiful the beach wedding pics will be...

oh.. btw my groom is wearing a linen suit (found a perfect one at JC Penney) and the groomsmen are wearing khakis and pale yellow button down shirts.

I agree, go formal!  Not too long ago, I read of a trend in a wedding magazine about women buying formal ball gowns for their beach weddings.  I personally think it adds interest and en element of surprise to the whole thing.  Make a statement and don't 2nd guess it!!!  Love Love it. :)
