RSVP Envelopes and return addresses on invites

I'm printing my own invitations using a Gartner Studios kit from Michaels.

Do I handwrite my return address on the invitation envelope or print it?

Also the RSVP envelopes will, I think, be too small for my printer to handle properly.  Is the best option to handwrite those as well?  Would clear labels be inappropriate?

Wedding would best be described as semi-formal.  Traditional church ceremony with a buffet dinner reception in the church hall.

FI just proposed  on Sunday and wedding is in July 2010, so all time-saving options are attractive.  :-)   Obviously, though, I don't want to save time at the expense of looking tacky.

Re: RSVP Envelopes and return addresses on invites

  • If you have beautiful handwriting and can write on a straight line, go for the selfaddressing of the envelopes- it will give it that personal touch. Get a hold of a calligraphy pen with silver or gold ink from Michael's or Joann's, if you are going with darker color envelopes.

Unfortunately, I am not blessed with either abilities :-)

Have the envelopes printed- it will look more professional.
  • Handwriting addresses is preferred over labels.  However, you can likely get an embosser for your return address.  They're very inexpensive.

  • I would get an embosser or a stamp. You can have a custom stamp made on etsy. HTH.

  • Thanks for the help.  Hadn't considered an embosser--great idea.
  • I got an embosser from stampxpress.com.  No joke, I ordered it on Monday and it arrived on Friday!  And it was only $30!  My fiance takes credit for that idea but I have to say, it looks really nice!

  • I've purchased embossers from Cannizzaro Seal & Engraving. You can go to their site to contact them about ordering through a dealer. They have a very fast turnaround (I ordered one for my mom on a Monday and got it on Wednesday.
