We're trying to create some type of cohesive guest list. Mine was pretty easy- I've been gradually contacting people over the past couple months to figure out the addresses I didn't know, SOs, etc. My FI has literally been avoiding this whole thing like the plague. So today I made him sit down to figure it out... he has no clue about anything! He doesn't know which women in his family have changed their names, which haven't, if anybody is dating anybody else, and he doesn't know like half the addresses... men...

Haha why is it that men never know these details? Good thing my FI doesn't have a large family so it will most likely not be too difficult. Luckily we are only inviting 60 ppl. Have you got down a basic guest list yet?

Like PP my FI has a small family . So most of the guests are mine. So my guests list is pretty easy. I am already done and have most of the addresses.

We know how many people, but he doesn't have all his cousin's children's names either. He's inviting 70 people who are just family members and he's completely clueless! I told him to call his sister since she's supposedly sending her save the dates out in a few weeks, but she doesn't know anything either. How is she planning on sending her STDs??? It's less than 5 months until her wedding...

Best thing to do is contact his mom. She should have all the info. Don't worry, it's not just your FI.

I'm working with my fiancee's mom for this part, she has been the saving grace to an otherwise nightmare since his family is HUGE!!

His mother knows less than he does! My mom knows everything about our family... I don't get it... He still has a while though (obviously), but this is why I wanted him to start early! It's going to take all summer to get that info!

Thankfully we have addresses for almost all of FI's family, now it's mostly my family members that I need addresses for. My dad has almost all of them, just need to get them from him :-)

Thank goodness we dont have to worry about this anymore but when we did I was the main person contacting people on both sides for addresses... Believe it or not Facebook helped out a lot with last names and kids names for some people... GL Mel it will all come together...

When I asked my mom and his mom for a guest list, I just got names. I'm dreading trying to get the addresses for everyone. Plus my mom keeps adding to the guest list. (Which she can do because my parents are paying for most of it). I don't really know why she's inviting my sisters' friends' parents that she hasn't talked to in 3 years, but whatever. I'm cutting her off at 175 invites, which thankfully my dad will back me up on. Part of me is hoping she won't have addresses for a few, so I can just not invite as many people as she's told about the wedding already. Or invited herself by telling them they were invited.

At least we've still got a good bit of time to find addresses though.

My FI has been good about getting addresses!! If one of his female relatives changed their last name...he would just call them up and ask. If someone moved, he just called them up and asked. It also gave him a chance to chat with them. We started our guest list months ago and I suggested that we have all addresses by July so we can get started on the STDs.

My finances mom passed away when he was young...so I've been working on a guest list with his father, however, he wants me to invite family that I never met before and havent been a part of Fiances life in years. Ugh guest lists are such a pain!

I knew my fiance would be no help so i went to the parents!! But unfortunately he has no grandparents left and only 2 aunts so not a big family. On the other hand my family both parents have 6 siblings and I have 4 sets of grandparents due to divorce so i have a huge family, which I love :

I havn't even been able to get FI to do a guest list of just his friends. His mom sent me the list of her family/family friends, so I know she'll have the addresses and stuff. Him, its just like 2 friends from high school that are separate from his mom's family friend list and whoever from college. Post college, I've already done the list since I'm friends with pretty much all of them.

Just sent out our STDs last week (because majority of our guests will be out of town and the wedding is during Memorial Day weekend). Doing the guest list was an exhausting part of planning...we originally agreed on 200 people being invited (100 on each side). The final count was 270!! My mom and I agreed that any extra guests that she wanted to invite would be covered by her contribution. I'm hoping that a smaller number show up...some on my FI's side may not be coming due to annual family engagements around that time. We'll see!!!
