  You can check local groupons - they have them for about $50 - otherwise I think they are in the $300 range

  do you have a wedding photographer hired yet?  many will include an engagement session in their package.  the advantage to having the same photographer for both is that your photographer gets to know you both, and you get to know him/her, so you're ultimately more comfortable with each other when the big day comes.
  
  if you've already booked your wedding photographer, you might try to cut a deal with them for an engagement session.

  I used Erin Stefanik Photography, www.erinstefanikphotography.com, for our engagement pictures. I believe ours were $200. Don't quote me, that was back in October. I can barely remember last week.

  My wedding will be in Nassau, Bahamas. Not willing to pay travel and accomodations for a local photographer so I just need one for the engagement photos. Will hire a  photographer in Nassua for the wedding and reception photos
