Catholic churches that will marry a Catholic and a Lutheran

Neither my fiancée nor I has a church home in the area and we would like to be married in a church. Does anyone know of any Catholic churches in North/Central Jersey that will marry 1) non-members and 2) a Catholic and a non-Catholic without making me convert?

Info about the church (Glen Ridge, NJ): http://www.stfrancisnj.org/

Some info about their beliefs surrounding marriage: http://www.stfrancisnj.org/pages/weddings.html

The person you'd probably want to get in contact with (he's our officiant and I HIGHLY recommend him): http://www.stfrancisnj.org/pages/coaching.html

i'm lutheran, dh is catholic....we got married at st anne's in fair lawn by father colin...he did not have a problem with it at all...didn't even have a problem with me taking communion (we had a full mass- and i've been to catholic services before where they pretty much say any non catholics can not have communion...) he even said the lutheran version of our father (with the forever and ever amen at the end...)
neither of us belong to the church...but, i will say that my grandparents, and my dad all belong to that church (my dad is catholic, but i was raised lutheran) and i was baptised at that church...but, they would have married us anyway
before deciding on them, we had met with st. cecelia's in kearny....that's was dh's church....they had no problem with me being lutheran either...we didn't get married there because they didn't have the time we wanted....

It's against the rules for a Catholic church to make you convert. So if someone is telling you that you need to convert in order to marry your FI, they're wrong.

As long as your FI has made his sacraments, that should be all you need. They asked MH and I for our baptisimal certificates and the names/locations of the churches where we made First Communion and Confirmation. And don't quote me, but if you were baptized then it might make the process a bit easier (since you are a baptized Christian). You might need to promise to raise your future children as Catholics ... again, though, don't quote me. (MH and I are both Catholic so it never came up for us.)

Does your FI have a regular home church outside this area? He could call them and ask to be referred to a more local church. Having his priest "vouch" for him might make it easier for you to find a place without being a member there. It looks better to say, "We're new to the area and left his home church behind and haven't found a new one yet" rather than just walking in off the street and not wanting to become members there.

Is it important to the two of you to have your marriage recognized as a Catholic sacrament? If you only want a church wedding and not a Catholic marriage, then how about a non-denominational chapel? Or something like a Universalist church?

Father John at St. Bart's church in Scotch Plains.. they are pretty lenient.. and so is he. My fiance are nonmembers and they had no problem with that.. and when we did the little questionaire thing there was a whole section about interfaith marriages, so I know for sure they'll marry you. You just can't get married right on the altar.
