Creative Centerpiece Ideas (low budget)

Hi ladies! I need inspiration for a DIY project for my engagement party. I wanted to make centerpieces and stick to a budget of approx. $10-$15 / table (or less if possible). I want to stay away from balloons.  The tables are banquet tables - round fitting approx. 8 - 10 guests.  Can you share any ideas you may have? I've seen so many creative posts that I knew if anyone could help me, it would be you guys!  Thanks!

What colors do you want to use? You could always fill glass bowls with fresh fruit ... limes and lemons, apples, cranberries. Then just put a couple small votive candles around the table and you're done.

You could also put out picture frames of you and FI. Or get those small $5 lanterns from IKEA.

Check out Craigslist, too. I got some pretty little green hanging candleholders for our wedding for a few bucks apiece. And I was able to sell a few of them after the wedding.

I'm open to a splash of any color. Right now we are doing white and silver (invitations and table cloths/napkins).

Check out places where you can get pilar candles and votive candles. I really like quick candles (ordered from them 3 times for various weddings) I've always been pleased with their product. I think one girl on here wasn't as happy but I've only got good things to say considering what I paid for them.

What about tall vases with a submerged flower and a floating candle on top.  Or you could do low vases with some sort of colored beads also with a floating candle.

Cindy - The party is in July.

Kellybee - Do you have any store/website recs to get vases? I was thinking of checking out Michaels?

Laurms - I am also going to look into the pillar candles! That's a great idea :)

BTW I've re-used the glass portion of the votives 4 times now so if you got them for the e-party you could re-use for the wedding.

Dollar stores have a lot of vases too.

I did live flowering plants for my wedding centerpieces.  They would be in your price range.

Do you live near The Christmas Tree Shop? The one in Springfield is amazing! They have gorgeous items right now you could use as centerpieces. From sea glass vases, to starfish dishes to blue glass beachy items, you could do a low bowl with sand and starfish, shells, votives etc. They have a whole wedding section on display but if you just wander you will find some great things.

I second quick candles and dollar tree for inexpensive vases!

My FSILs just put various colored flowers (they were from Shop Rite and looked like pompoms on stems) in a vase and put some river pebbles at the bottom, and there was a ribbon around each vase in the color of what the BM dresses will be. I think there were two votives on each table too. We had round tables that fit 8 people and it worked out pretty well.

I second the Christmas Tree Shop and the idea about the vases with the ribbons and river rocks.  They had something similar at my shower using white rocks and purple and white carnations and it was really pretty.

I will try to find a good pic of my live plant centerpiece.  I didn't get my pro pics back yet.  I got the pots for the plants at the Christmas Tree Shop.  I put the plastic pot with the plant right inside of the fancy pot so that I didn't have to transplant.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner.  I would definitely say Christmas Tree Shop.  Michaels or AC Moore if you use their coupons.  You could check out Ikea too.  Or G&G Distributors.

We got the cylindrical vases/candle holders (they could be either) that we are using for our tables numbers for our wedding at Michaels.

Christmas Tree Shop has tons of summery things right now.  Lots of beachy stuff which is fun.

We bought these and are using them for our cocktail tables (removing the black handles).  They were $0.89 each!

And are using the pink vases in this pack for our cocktail reception as well

They had Christmas Tree Shops in Rhode Island (where I went to college), but I didn't know of any in NJ.  I was excited when they opened one in Bridgewater 5 minutes from my parents house.
