  • S&R is hilarious fun :)

The advice I got from my officiant was not to lock your knees during the ceremony. It restricts blood flow to your brain and could cause you to faint. I normally lock them if I have to stand for long periods of time so it was a good warning to have.

Also take 5 minutes to look around and take it in. The day is going to fly by and it's such a great feeling to see everything come together.
  • Hi!  Congrats on being so close - that's exciting.  My advice would be to relax, drop some insignificant items from you to-do list (if you're the only one who would notice the difference, drop it).  Enjoy the day, because it will literally feel like it was 15 minutes long.  Take time to get ready, enjoy your family and friends, and your new husband.

  • Typical post on S&R:

I had sex with my fiance a few days ago.  I forgot to take my pill at the exact moment I'm supposed to and now I feel a little queasy.  Am I pregnant?  Oh my god.  I have no idea how birth control works and how sex leads to babies so instead of looking up this information that I should have known for the past umpteen years of my life, I'm going to broadcast my stupidity to an international message board.  HELP!!

Can I stay here forever after I get married?
  • That's my plan Numbers. I go over there for amusement but am terrified to post anything.

I did post there a few times. Once in a thread about how someone was all up in arms that her husband was spending too much time with his mother. Near as I could tell, she was a whiny little beotch and her real problem was she wanted to have her H staring at her anytime he was not at work-her H did not need to "grow up" SHE did. Another one had in laws with some financial problems in retirement, and the board was pretty much all saying "tell them to shove it and go live under a bridge".

I think the Nest is a place where about 80% of the posters think marriage is all about finding the perfect house and having perfect children to take perfect school pics of  to show off to your friends and relatives. I look at the posts and wonder what some of these same people are gonna do when their MIL's get cancer or their H's get older and fatter and bald.

Oh, and do not even get me started on all the stupid you see on there re birth control. HOW old are these people again? 14? No wait they're married so they have to be at least 18... Wow.

    Edited for spelling.
  • my personal favorite is 'H wants threesome for anniversary' WHAT?

Fun fact: in Quebec you used to be able to get married at 14 with the permission of both parents. They changed it to 16 now.
  • I am a lurker, but I am coming out of the woodwork for this... what is S&R? And why in the WORLD would they allow a dum*** post like that...?
    Anniversary
  • HAHA good to know I wasn't the only one who finally ventured over...

The one that got me, was me and H had a threesome with the "devil" which idk I'm not familiar with apparently it has to do with two men one being her H and they had set rules and she went too far now her H is THUPER DUPER jealous... what should I do?!?!.....

I quit after that one Sealed

Fun fact: in NC you can still get married at 15 with a certified court order.  Or at 16 with parental permission.
