Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Hi ladies!

Hello ladies! I'm new around these parts. I'm getting married on March 4 of next year at the Filter Building! I am going a bit crazy planning a wedding in such a short time but my fiance is in the military and this was the only "guaranteed" time off that we'll have for a while. Since most Dallas venues were booked up on Saturdays, we decided to go for a Sunday afternoon wedding - we're doing a brunch reception! I am so excited to be planning something a bit "out of the box."

We are high school sweethearts - we grew up in Richardson, then went our separate ways. He went to the Naval Academy and I went to UT! We're both living and working in New York now while he goes to school - I'm in the City. I'm really lucky to have plenty of family and friends who are willing to help me out with the long distance planning process. I was home briefly for Thanksgiving and was able to get my dress alterations, photographer, and florist booked. We're looking to book the rest of the vendors ASAP! I'd love to pick your brains about other vendors, but I already have (more or less) by looking on the vendor recommendations.

Just wanted to say hi! :)

Yes we do have a fur-baby! Her name is Stella, she's a golden retriever and is about 2 1/2 years old. Here's a picture. :)

My dress is the Frances by Ulla Maija... it was a once in a lifetime find at a Neiman Marcus sample sale in Austin some time ago. I got it for a STEAL since the thing usually costs an arm and a leg. The whole thing is covered in these abstract chiffon roses and I died when I put it on! I don't have a picture of me in it but here's one, and you can go to their website to see it too:

I also wanted to get a few recommendations on vendors... I've heard good things about Culinary Art Catering and they have been spectacular with communication. They even offered to pay the non-preferred caterer fee for us! Has anyone used them?

I'm also 90% sure I'll be using Angie Williams for my hair/makeup. Since I live in NYC I probably won't be back in time for a trial, which makes me nervous! But I've heard she's great!

We also just booked Ryan Ray as our photographer. I really love his work and he's such a nice guy! His work reminds me of Jose Villa.

Jose Villa is amazing! Every time he is on Style Me Pretty- my jaw drops and I feel lost in another world.

As for Culinary Art- I haven't used them myself, but I have been to a wedding that they catered and the food was delicious! They had two types of salad, a macaroni and cheese bar, a shrimp dish and a few meat stations. The macaroni and cheese bar was really fun- you were able to mix in whatever you wanted. They also had some really great appetizers.

I had a tasting at Culinary Art, and it was delicious! Their chef was the only one in DFW that made our special dish, Spaghetti Carbonara, exactly like it tasted in Italy. The lady that handles the business side is really nice & helpful too! They were my second choice for sure!

PS Cute doggie! I foster for Paws in the City in case you want another one. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

YES! I am so glad to hear praise for Culinary Art! Vivian the coordinator has been SO nice and helpful, so I was really hoping the food tasted good! We'll have a tasting soon with them.

Also glad about Angie Williams! She's not the cheapest hair/makeup I've found but she's certainly not the most expensive... and her work looks great! I am going to do an unstructured side bun a la this girl (also a redhead!) and I love her natural makeup:
