Teeth Whitening

FI and I get our braces off in September and FI wants to whiten his teeth before our epics. I see deals all the time on groupon, gotta half it etc. Please recommend your "teeth whitening place" or share what you do at home. I have heard crest white strips work... does anyone use those or something else like it? What really works? We are also limited on time so it would have to whiten within just 2 or 3 weeks...TIA!

    Do not get the Crest strips. I used them and they were horrible. They slide all around and do not stay were they are supposed to. They also had such a horrible taste. Not worth the money. They wouldn't be half bad if they stayed in one spot. I say try the teeth whitening trays. They will stay in place and probably whiten a lot better.

    Hi, I use to work for Towncare Dental & Main Street Dental (same company) you probably see them on TV sometimes.

    Anyway, that in office whitening is much stronger & more costly than the at home stuff. The in office is about 45 to 1 hour long & lasts for months. If you have sensitivity issues I would not recommend it because it is strong. Usually patients are given take home treatment to keep up with the whitening.

    Crest strips work as do other at home treatment. They just take longer to work.

    After your braces have your prophy done (cleaning) and ask the doc for at home whitening. They usually carry a professional version of whitening trays or strips.

    There are many different options. Just ask the doc to help you choose what is best for both of you & what fits in your budget. Prices range greatly.  You may have a preference on they type of whitening you want to do. Personally I like the trays because they whiten all teeth & not just the front. Really, they all taste pretty eh & they all get all over the place. Make sure to whiten at a time where you don't need to talk. This will help with everything staying in place.  Keep in mind that not everyone's teeth whiten. There is a small portion of the population that does not whiten.

    Since you have limited time, I'd get them done in the office. I don't have any recs because I use the Crest strips. The strips do taste like crap and they slip n' slide but I've had good luck with them. Don't forget about your toothpaste too! I use Arm and Hammer Brilliant Sparkle as well as a gel that goes on top of the toothpaste that is made by Arm and Hammer too. I don't know if either of them really help but my teeth are pretty white (if I say so myself, haha) and I rarely whiten mine. You must be excited for the braces to come off! I was! Yay!

    After you get your braces off you sometimes have the option of a retainer that is clear. If you do I would recommend buying bleach material from your dentist. What they sell is in much higher concentrations than what you can find at the market. Crest Whitestrips are flawed in that your teeth arent flat all the way across, they round and taper towards the edges, the white strips cant reach those areas. The quickest bet is going to get them professionally whitened, this also has a downside however if you suffer from teeth sensitivity.

    Something that PJ and I both used right before the wedding was Go Smile. It only takes 4 days.. and you apply it once in the morning and once at night. It doesn't make your teeth hurt either (mine are super sensitive and this wasn't bad at all).

    I wound up getting a great deal at the time... it's normally around $100 but I found them on amazon for $35.
