hair stylist vent

So besides the fact that I'm in the process of moving and starting a new job AND finishing all the wedding details, my hair stylist called and cancelled my wedding!!  I got her name through a friend and did a trial last week before the move.  It didn't go as well as I would have hoped because she didn't do what I asked when I showed her pictures. And it was really messy looking with bobby pins showing and falling out.  Still, being the nice person that I am I decided to still go with her and really didn't giver he any attitude.  Since I need to figure out the timeline and how much time we need for hair, I asked how long she needs for each girl and when we should start.   I'm having a 6 pm wedding but we need to be ready for pictures by 4... Well she wanted to start at 8 am and take 1 1/2 hour for each girl which I thought was a bit much. All I did was nicely question that much time and apparently it offended her so she decided she didn't want to do my weddng. She didn't like that I wasn't happy with her hairstyle either but hey I'm paying good money and it should be somewhat like what I want!  Of course she calls me after I paid the $100 for the trial.  She was the one with the attitude and I think thought a little too highly of herself when the hairstyle didn't even look good, so it's probably best I don't use her since I wasn't as comfortable with her.  Problem now is that i have 2 months to go, it's a holiday weekend, and I moved. I could do a trial on a weekend that I visit Jax, but I'm worried that people are probably booked. My make-up person is trying to help find me someone, but I just had to vent about this because it's very frustrating how people can be.

Does she work for a salon?  If so, I would call and ask if you can get at least some money back from your trial since you weren't happy and she cancelled on you.

Just for reference though, my hair stylist is taking 2 hours for each girls hair.  Updos take a lot more time than a regular hair style.

Good luck finding someone else!  Hopefully you'll actually like your hair this time.

Would you mind telling us the girl's name? I am considering a person I found her on the Knot and want to make sure its not her :)

I see you are getting married in PV. There is a salon in Jax Beach, Picasso's Day Spa and a girl named Tamy (pronouced Tayme) and she does great updos. She is a little expensive but is totally worth it. Also, she didn't take a long time to do my hair. You could at least call and ask if she was booked. They will travel but the salon it in the heart of Jax beach so it wouldn't be too far to drive if you needed to. She works with another girl there and they both do a great job on up dos.

Jen, I don't know where you are located.... One of my recommended hairstylist only take 30 minutes for each updo.... Her name is Apryle Nolan... Of course, I have not had a trial yet. Let me know if you need her information

Thanks girls!  I didn't think i was that picky since I only want a simple half up-do but I understand that stylists do take approx hour and half on the bride. From previous experience when I've been a bridesmaids, the hair people did updos for all the girls in less than an hour each girl so that's what threw my off.   More important than the time issue, I want to be happy!  I'll check out some places in Jax beach.  I'm sure I'll find someone that is available.
The lady that did my trial is the owner of her small salon and it was not a place that I found thru the knot..i trusted my coworker.  She seemed so nice when i first met her, but guess we just didn't click.

Yes, I am using Haley for my makeup. I have already had my trial with her (for our e-pics) and I had some changes to it but overall I liked it and I loved her! Jen- she is located in Jax Beach on 3rd street. Thats where the salon is but like I said she travels and will be coming to me on my wedding day.

I know I've mentioned this a few times on this board already but I will again.  I highly recommend Envy Hair Salon.  They used to be in Mandarin but last year moved way down Phillips (almost in Ponte Vedra).  Ashley K has been doing my hair for over 2 years.

Hey, I got married on Friday and I used Apryle and Haley for hair and make up. They were awesome! They took a max of 30min/person and the results were incredible. They both went above and beyond.

Hi Ladies!  I used Apryle Nolan for my hair on 3/27 and she is AWESOME! She did my hair and 2 other bridesmaids (up-do's) in about an hour.  I highly recommend her - she is reasonably priced and does an amazing job!  Since I first did my trial with her, she is also doing my color now as well :)
