Newspaper Engagement Notice---Unemployed?

I have been unemployed for 2 months.  I was waiting to put our engagement notice into our local newspaper until I found a job, but I'm worrying it will still be some time.  What do you ladies recommend about writing it without saying "Bride is currently unemployed"?  (BTW I am also not in school, so I can't substitute that I am a student)

TIA ladies!

Re: Newspaper Engagement Notice---Unemployed?

  • Did you graduate from college? Maybe you can list your college and major.
Or you can write you are currently seeking work in whatever field you are interested in (ex: Becca is currently seeking work in the counseling field), or you can just leave it blank?
Sorry if i'm not a big help. It's hard to realize it sometimes, but we really are more than just our jobs!

  • I have also never seen an engagement notice where they mention the jobs...I think you can just leave it!
  • I think including the jobs is just common in our area.  We will just leave it out.  Thanks so much ladies!
  • In my local paper, jobs are typically included, along with college and degrees. Can you say something like "Bride is in the xyz field"?
  • We listed our jobs in our engagement announcement. However, I typed it up and submitted it to the newspaper. Of course, there was a guide, but if are unemployed, simply leave that info off for both of you guys. It doesn't have to be length. Just that you guys are engaged and when the wedding date is, parents names if you want, etc.
  • We listed ours too with colleges and high schools and the whole shebang. It's so funny how areas are so different. But I wouldn't say bride is unemployed. I'd leave it out too and do what tencups suggested.

  • do people really still do these?
  • How about the bride is a graduate of xxx with a degree in xxx and is in the xxx field.
  • Yes Calypso they still do these... and to the OP, I'd just leave that info out. Good luck!
