Oh geeze, what was I thinking?

So I'm finally get around to putting away all my china in my new china cabinet. As I'm doing it, I think, gee, I really need to find a time to use these! WHY NOT INVITE MIL and SFIL for dinner?!?!111!! So I did. But now I'm kinda freaking out.

H mentioned that MIL asked to be invited over for sandwiches or something sometime. Ouch. Cause I make way more than sandwiches. She knows we've had our friends over, btu I've honestly NEVER thought about having them over for a meal. MIL drops in all time time, but they've never been here for a meal. First of all, she used to get pissed when I'd spend the weekend with them and make the family dinner. SFIL and H would RAVE about what I'd make. She'd sit there and scowl. I only did it two times and figured that it so wasn't worth it. And, she has the plainest palette in the world. I make really flavorful food, so I don't even know what to fix her!

Not sure why I thought this would be a great idea...

[QUOTE]I just don't like people all up in my business. All I can think about at work all day is - is she going through my stuff? Did she open the front door and let out one of the cats? What the heck is she doing all day? Is she making a mess?

FMIL begs to watch our house when we go out of town (which isn't that often). It was fine at first, but she's no longer allowed in our house unsupervised for a number of reasons:

She managed to let the dog out of the yard and didn't even bother to go look for him. Luckily, he came back in a few minutes.

She tries to do our laundry. That sounds great, except I've been an avid knitter for years and make most of my sweaters. They're wool, and they do NOT go in the washing machine, let alone on a hot heavy duty cycle with bleach. Fi's nieces now have sweaters for their dolls.

She announced to her entire family that FI and I have a kinky sex life because she found a bottle of massage oil.

She upended a bottle of cranberry juice onto our tan sofa and didn't even make an attempt to clean it up.

She stole my hair clips.

For the food, I like the idea of making a pot roast. It's easy, but looks impressive.
