Need some input!

Hi everyone! So my fiance and I are doing a pre-wedding weight loss challenge. We are both quite a bit over weight and we both want to change that before the wedding. We aren't getting married until September 13, 2014 so we have plenty of time to work on it! I am currently a 5'8 woman who weight 270 lbs. I was wondering if you all could help me come up with a reasonable goal to reach by the wedding. I have 557 days from today to reach that goal. I was hoping to go to 170, but I fear that dropping 100 lbs might be unreasonable. I would greatly appeciate any input and advice as well as any workout suggestions anyone might have! Thanks!

Hi ChalupaBatman2014! Sorry for the delayed reply. I was out of town at a fitness conference. Your goal is not unreasonable, but you'll want to break it down into small incremental goals that you can measure day by day and week by week. For example, you can make it a goal to workout at least 30 min 2x/week and then work your way up to 3-4x/week.

The most critical component to losing body fat is diet. Following some structured and responsible eating plan (preferably one from a registered dietician) can be very helpful.

Overall, you should strive to lose 1-2 lbs per week. In 79 weeks that will get you to your goal, but keep your eye on it and monitor your progress. Realize that your wedding gives you the opportunity to be super motivated and gives you that all important deadline to keep your mind focused and to keep you inspired.

Let me know what I can help you with and congrats on making the decision to get in shape for the big day!<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
