The Saved by the Bell generation

Those of you who enjoyed SBTB might be able to answer this question that has been bugging me.

Around the same time when SBTB was popular or possibly a few years later there was this other show, about a group of teenagers in (I think) California who had a band. They used to hang out in a bar decorated with surf boards, and the main teen character was a song writer. They all used to hang out at his house a lot and rehearse in his garage.

Any clues?

Ok, since we are on a roll. Another sitcom, the dad was a coach (football, baseball?) and lived with his teenage daughters. The daughters (I think 3 or 4) were all very different from each other. There was a pretty blonde, a hot naive red head, a bookworm brunette and maybe another one I don't remember. Broadcast possibly late 80s/early 90s. Shot in the style of Home Improvement. And go!
