Reception Site Suggestions?

Hi!  I am looking for a unique reception venue but everything I have found has been rustic looking.  ANy suggestions for more modern wedding reception venues in the triangle?  We are looking to have between 100-150 guests.  Thanks:)

The NC Art Museum is a more "modern" space that you might like http://ncartmuseum.org/interim/special-events-spaces.php

I got married at the Sheraton in downtown Raleigh in the Hannover Ballroom - which has two walls of windows that look out on downtown and does not feel like a very typical ballroom - you might want to check that out as well.  http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=434 (I have pictures in my bio of the reception)

The museum of history in downtown is another popular spot - while its a history musuem the design of the building is not what you'd picture for a typical history musuem: http://ncmuseumofhistory.org/fr/index.html

    Hope that helps!

I have to agree with krispychikin.  The NC museums are great downtown spots.  I'm getting married at the museum of history in March and it is such a gorgeous venue.  You can contact the coordinator and ask her when the next reception is being held, and she'll let you stop by before the guests arrive so you can see how beautifiul it is when it's set up for a wedding.  Good luck!

I got married at the North Carolina Museum of HIstory in October and I worked there in special events for about 3 years.  It is a great space!  I would be happy to send you pictures of my wedding if you would like to see it at night.  You can email me at ramcclur@gmail.com.

Museum of Natural History, Artspace, Museum of Life and Science, Bay 7, Cotton Company, all sorts of options.  I recommend checking out the NC Bride Bio: http://www.ncbridebio.com/

Wow! So unaware of all of these venues. Thought we were going to get stuck with a traditional wedding. I'm about to start contacting these places ASAP.

The Cotton Room in Durham is nice... you have to do all the catering through them since they are owned by Triangle Catering, but the space is very unique!

Artspace, Haywood Hall, The Mordecai Houes, & All Saints Chapel in downtown Raleigh are interesting venues.
