Website design liar?

We're having a website created.  There's a section titled "Featured Links" that we don't want, but appears on every page.  Designer is saying SOMETHING has to go in that space.

Is he just trying to get us to stick to his template to avoid extra work, or is he telling me the truth?

    He's lying. He can do something other than the template. He's just being lazy and hoping you don't know about website development.

    Heh.  I don't, but you girls do.  I just emailed my local IT former fck buddy about it.  I wonder if he knows this jerkwad.

    agreed. Lazy.

    However, it may be that the extra work required would put him over the budget you allotted. 

    But it's more likely he's just lazy.

    Do you know the platform he's building it in? What kind of website is it?

    It *probably* isn't THAT much work to get rid of, if it's what I'm thinking it sounds like.
    Anything is removable, it's just how much wor it takes.
