  • I find bad grammar and spelling annoying. I know I make mistakes(I'm dyslexic) but I love when people help me out and point out those mistakes, in a nice way. (There are times that I don't see them and not on this board but on others, people have been very snarky saying there is an spell check on here.I know that, but at the same point...sometimes I just don't see it)

  • I'm newer, but generally get annoyed with bad grammar and spelling.  However, I know that people make mistakes and that people come from all different walks of life.  Pointing something out in a nice, helpful way is very different than making a snarky comment about it.  However, this is a forum that anybody could walk into (so to speak) and post a comment, which means that from time to time there will be people that have never posted anything that write in pink text because they think it's cute, or use horrible grammar because they don't know any better.  That's how TK works, and there's not really anything people can do about it unfortunately.

I'm forgiving and guilty of one or two minor mistakes, especially thanks to the stupidity that is TK mobile and autocorrect. It erases your paragraphs, won't publish certain characters like hyphens. My bigger pet peeve is posters who add lots of unnecessary details, which make posts harder to read and often distract from the true issue they want to address.

  • I get annoyed by it, yes.  But usually only when it's EXCESSIVE.  If someone who typically posts coherent things makes a grammar error here or there (which I'm SURE I do!!) it doesn't bother me at all.  If someone posts a 2,000+ word story with no periods, or illogical grammar, and they do it over and over again, I get pretty irritated.

Unfortunately, different boards function differently from one another.  Newbs eventually learn by hanging around and posting on those boards.  By letting them know how the board functions, they can be more effective in getting responses to their questions/comments that they are looking for whether it is supporting them or not.

You're the moderator and know much more about how TK functions than me, but all I meant was that we technically can't stop them from posting in the first place.  Letting them know how the board works is completely fine in my opinion. :)

This. Especially on a message forum like this where you don't know the person. As long as I can understand what they are trying to say, I'm okay with grammar mistakes. I didn't know the difference between "their" and "they're" until high school, I don't remember learning it before then and if I had it certainly didn't stick until then. I try not to judge people.
