Tiaras...Classy or country? Should I scrap the look?

When originally deciding on my dress and accessories I'd planned on wearing a birdcage veil with a fascinator, I'd wanted to do something different. Once we'd chosen the Castle for our venue I decided, "Hmmm, I'm in a castle, why not go with the princess theme all the way so out went the trumpet dress/birdcage veil and in came the very princess-like Vera Wang tulle dress and tiara and I was feeling the look until I noticed a blog with different people calling tiaras everything from tacky to out-dated and country, now I'm stuck wondering if anyone else is wearing them? I believe that anything can be taken to the point that its tacky, but i believe it can be pulled off tastefully. Should I scrap the look?

I personally don't like them, I think they are outdate and remind me of little girls playing dress up....so I vote no....

BUT its your day and you have to do what makes you feel beautiful.

I like Tiaras. I plan to wear a Tiara. I think its classy. You should go with a tiara. I think it adds that something extra. Its your day and if you like the tiara, I say go for it.

I think since I am doing a dress/hair change after the ceremony I'm gonna go with it  and do the fascinator at the reception. It'll be a good compromise for my family members and me. lol

This. I personally wouldn't wear one but if I saw a bride with it I wouldn't think negative. I say go for it if you like it.

I always wanted a tiara and I'll never get another chance to wear one without being judged too badly. I have one just for the reception. just to have one. Ok so clearly I don't mind being judged lol. Go for it if you like it!

<div>I second this. A tiara reminds me of a Sweet 16.  BUT again.... it's your day, your way.  If that's what you truly want, then go for it!</div>

Don't like them AT ALL, but go for it and make it work for you if that's what you want.

I don't care for them, but if that's what you want, go for it!

An alternative to the tiara is a headband (or headpiece). (ok, I'm biased b/c I wore one). If the blinged princess look is what you are going for, you can still do it through a headband and it cuts out the possible cheesiness (sp) of a tiara.

</div><div>I agree... i think the tiara trend of the 80's and 90's has definitely evolved!! headbands are an excellent alternative indeed! </div>

I am wearing one.  I wear a tiara every year on my birthday so it is only natural that I wear an even more fabulous one on my wedding day.  I agree with the other ladies.  It is personal preference and if you want to wear one then wear one.  It is your day.

I think I'm the queen so of course I am wearing one. LOL

The styles of tiaras have changed, so you don't have to get one that looks like its circa 1987....  I do agree that the headbands are a modern alternative to the traditional "tiara" look.

Build your wedding day look in a way that compliments your personality and style sense best.

I don't think they are cheesy, and you can definitely find some gorgeous blinged out ones. I wore one and my guests talked about how nice it was. I didn't wear a veil with it though.

Thanks ladies for all your comments, and suggestions. Due to the response, I rushed out today to the nearest bridal boutique and began trying out different hair pieces everything except headbands, I hate how I look in them for everyday wear so for my wedding it isn't even a possibility, my head is just too large, lol. And I have decided that for ME my small tiara is PERFECT.  I am still gonna change into a fascinator that I'm making for the reception, but for the ceremony, it's tiara all the way.  And you ladies are right it definately is about preference there are alot of options that I dislike but who am I to tell someone what to wear for her big day based off my opinions? Thanks for helping me to throughly look into this, this post has helped reassure me that what I choose for my day is best, because with family and friends pressuring us we can sometimes forget that. I'm happy with it!Smile
